In the run up to Christmas there is nothing more fun than a girly weekend away to Christmas shop and live your best lives before all the family focussed parties kick off!
This year my bestie and I decided to go and check out Liverpool, famed for its lively nightlife and boasting the most Grade 1 listed architecture outside of London – and only two hours by train, it was ticking boxes.
The Resident Hotel

We stayed at The Resident Hotel on Seal Street. This could not be more central, directly on top of all the bars we immediately felt like we had landed somewhere cool and buzzy. Based in an old warehouse style building our King Room offered a silent, cosy haven from all the excitement below.
The hotel chain aim for residents to feel like they are staying in a home from home. With a small, discreet kitchenette complete with Nespresso machine, ability to Chromecast to the TV and get Uber Eats or Deliveroo delivered to your room it certainly felt like that.
Chez Mal

Before we hit the bars, we indulged a gorgeous 3 course meal at Chez Mal in the Malmaison hotel on Prince’s dock. Think dark, rich, sexy interiors with nods to the dock’s industrial heritage. I cannot recommend the food enough, we absolutely loved the Chicken Karaage, the Cod Loin and the Sticky Toffee Pudding. The staff here were super engaging and helped us with where to go to enjoy a good night out in Liverpool.
Malmaison pride themselves on their brasseries, exploring their love of food with their talented chefs, matching dishes with an exciting wine list, and serving up great dishes. This they did on every level.

Chez Mal itself is a fiery industrial jewel on the Mersey with decor of exposed brickwork, high ceilings and industrial pipe features. This creative setting is easy to relax into and enjoy strip steaks, lobster Béarnaise and many excellent dishes from the menus.
If you are ever in Liverpool, this is where you need to eat and experience the extraordinary.
Alma de Cuba
Alma de Cuba provided us with all the dancing and vibes we were after. It is based in an 18th century church and just exudes fun. This is open until 3am on the same street we were staying! Other bars in the area carried on until 4am! You will not find a more ‘up for it’ vibe than here!
Rough Hand Bakery
To recover from all the antics, we were dying for a decent coffee and pastry with a dose of iconic Liverpool architecture. Rough Hand Bakery situated in Albert Dock more than delivers on all fronts! With sweet and savoury croissants, the size of my head, it is a must visit boutique bakery.
Café Sass

What girly weekend is complete without brunch! Café Sass is an unapologetically pink, flower café serving up Lucky Charm Lattes and Pink Beetroot Hollandaise. The vibes are cosy, the interior is Instagram heaven and the French toast is to die for!
The Christmas Markets are now open so what better time to experience 48 hours in Liverpool.
