Top Times to Visit Las Vegas

Las Vegas is a great place to visit year-round. No matter when you arrive, the giant playground for adults in the Nevada desert always serves up a memorable experience. No matter whether it’s your first time or your one-hundredth time in Vegas, you know you’re guaranteed for it to be epic.

The city has a reputation for being the casino capital of the world, but it has much more to offer than just slots and roulette. It is home to many of the biggest legends in music who perform in residency, as well as some of the largest sports teams and events on the planet. Combine this with other events, conventions, shows, festivals, and more, a visit to Las Vegas is often different from one week to the next as the city has something new to offer.

So if you’re thinking of booking a trip to Sin City, here are the top times to visit.

Late November – Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix

Formula 1 is the biggest, fastest, and most glamorous motorsport in the world, making it the perfect pairing for a city that is famed for excess and high rollers.

For several years, Formula 1 has been implementing a strategy to expand its reach in North America, particularly the United States. This is a market it has struggled to crack as the US has many of its home-grown motorsports, leaving less room for F1 to grow.

In 2023, the final of three prongs of F1’s strategy to penetrate into the US was put into place on the streets of Las Vegas as then sport’s 20 cars roared down the famous strip under the glowing neon lights of its casinos. The event was regarded as a great success, both on track and off, serving up thrills and spills for fans that flocked to the city to watch.

The 2024 event was just as spectacular, demonstrating the Las Vegas race is not just a gimmick. If you’d like to watch the action in 2025, then late November is when you need to book your Vegas trip.

May to July – World Series of Poker

The World Series of Poker is the biggest and most prestigious poker tournament in the world. It has been hosted in Vegas since the first running back in 1970, though it was a much smaller affair back then.

The WSOP exploded in popularity and size in the early 2000s during a period known as the poker boom. Around this time, online poker platforms were still in their infancy, creating a lot of excitement among players who were discovering the sport for the first time.

Today, the scene has matured a lot as leading online card rooms like PokerStars offer an array of resources for players of all ability levels to learn poker skills and strategies from basic hand rankings to advanced techniques.

With these skills, some players continue to hone their craft and use it to qualify for major events like the WSOP where they join some of the most talented card players in the game.

Whether you’re a player or just a spectator, the WSOP is one of the best times to be in Las Vegas. Traditionally running from late May to July, this gives you plenty of time to catch the action if you’re planning a trip in late spring or early summer.

October – Music and Football

October is an action-packed month in Las Vegas as there’s a lot happening up and down the strip.

For music fans, the When We Were Young festival is a massive event that features many of the biggest names from the 2000s, with bands like Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, and Green Day all performing.

As the sound of their guitars and drums resonate across the desert, elsewhere in the city, the NFL season will be in full swing by this point. American football has a much shorter season than most sports, with each team only playing 17 regular season games between September and January.

The Raiders recently moved from Oakland, California to Las Vegas where they’ve made a new home amongst the casinos. If you’re a football fan, October is a great time to visit as you’ll have the opportunity to catch a home game in the city.
