If you’re looking for a hotel that feels more like a warm embrace than just a place to sleep, the Treehouse Hotel Manchester might be exactly what you need. I recently had the chance to stay at this brand-new spot in the heart of the city and honestly, it’s hard to imagine going back to a ‘normal’ hotel after this!
Treehouse Hotel Manchester manages to capture that nostalgic feeling of childhood treehouses — playful, calm and a little magical but with all the style you would expect from a luxury stay.

From the moment I walked through the doors, I knew this place was special! With endless hanging plants and greenery everywhere, quirky wooden furniture and a tree which rises high through the ceiling, it feels more like a forest than a hotel. The vibe was relaxed and welcoming despite it being the very first day the hotel had opened and this laid-back energy carries through the whole hotel making you feel instantly comfortable.

With a staggering £25M invested in Manchester’s most eagerly awaited hotel opening, the first phase of opening is raring to go! Boasting an impressive 224 rooms and suites, the first four floors were open during my stay. The next phases will see the hotels restaurant, Sister Moon open along with The Nest in Treehouse, and a fabulous rooftop lounge and terrace which has been named the Hideout. If it’s anything like Treehouse London, we can expect fairy lights, comfy cushioned seating and uninterrupted views across the city to enjoy cocktails and soak up the seriously cool vibes.
Rooms are exactly what you would hope for after seeing the lobby. All cosy, stylish and full of thoughtful details. My studio had this huge window covered with multi coloured curtains (that seemed to change the lighting almost every hour), a tree stump for a side table and a humongous patchwork quilt decorating the bed. As you enter you are greeted with a welcome sign stating ‘Tree Love’ on what looks like a blackboard but it turns out to be a swivel TV which can be watched from both the sofa or bed.

The design is a perfect balance of rustic and modern with lots of reclaimed wood, soft lighting, and earthy tones. Everything in the room has been strategically placed but without feeling too kitschy. I was also left some bubbles to sip on whilst I settled into my treehouse-esq room. I’m glad they know grown ups prefer this to the juice which I assume kids who were lucky enough to play in a treehouse would usually enjoy (i grew up in central London!).
Plus, they’ve ditched single-use plastics, so you get refillable water bottles and sustainable toiletries. It’s the small touches that really make a difference and to me, the hotel has set the bar high on this factor making sustainability feel genuine and one of their core values.

Speaking of the sustainability, the hotel is also home to Pip. A brand new restaurant on the ground floor of the hotel which showcases wonderful dishes from Chef Mary-Ellen McTague, who is just as conscientious. You can enjoy locally sourced food which is both seasonal and low waste. And Low waste does not mean low flavour! The Smoked Trout with mustard cream and rhubarb ketchup was a highlight for me, which was then trumped by the Lancashire Lamb Hot Pot. A truly elevated take on the popular Northern comfort dish!

Breakfast is also served at Pip each morning, for hotel guests and visitors too. The portions are hearty, and don’t skip the crumpets (which I washed down with a mimosa!). It’s not a hotel breakfast if a breakfast ‘drink’ isn’t served!
The location is unbeatable. You’re right in the middle of Manchester, so you can wander to the Northern Quarter and explore the local coffee shops and pubs, plus if driving, there is a car park (run by a third party company) which is right next door to the hotel and 24 hrs costs less than 4 hours parking in central London!

Now, Treehouse Hotel Manchester isn’t just a place to sleep and eat as they will be hosting a lineup of regular events, like yoga sessions, cocktail-making classes and live music nights. There is a playground gym and meeting rooms aptly named after trees. Or even cooler, cinema nights (yes, there is even a screening room!).
Treehouse is nothing like your typical city break hotel, it is the ultimate grown up treehouse experience! In amongst Manchester’s fast expanding hotel scene, Treehouse offers eco chic meets city cool and I found my happy place here.
