How To Tidy Your Home In Just 30 Minutes

Tidying your home needn’t be a chore. In fact, with the right attitude and techniques, you can get the job done in just 30 minutes. That is of course if you don’t reside in a 10 bedroom mansion.

In this guide, we’re going to offer you all the help you need to spruce up your home making it worthy of Marie Kondo’s approval. From removing unwanted rubbish and clutter to getting those bathroom tiles gleaming, here’s all you need to know!

Gather together your cleaning equipment

Having everything to hand is going to help you as you clean your house. This may sound fairly obvious, but grab your hoover, sweeping brush, and all those lovely smelling cleaning products before you get started.

Set your cleaning equipment to one side and consider grabbing a bucket to carry it all in. You’ll be moving around your environment and convenience will be key in ensuring you get your cleaning done rapidly.

Use a timer and set it to 30 minutes

By setting a timer before you get started with the almighty task of cleaning your home, you’ll be challenging yourself.

As per human nature, you’ll be working quicker with the timer in mind. Use your phone to set a timer and allocate yourself a set amount of time for each space. 2 minutes to clean your bath? Go on, you’ve got this!

Throw away all your rubbish first

Getting rid of the rubbish in your home is the first step to take in the cleaning process. Grab a bin liner and throw away any rubbish in your sight. Of course, if you’re looking to get rid of heaps of rubbish, you may need to enlist the help of a London rubbish removal company

Once you’ve got your rubbish thrown away, you’ll be able to move onto the fun part – scrubbing, sweeping, and cleaning.

Put things away if needed

We all leave things out and about from time to time. Allocate a bit of time for putting your belongings back in their places. Make sure your books are back on the bookshelf and there’s no clutter lying around in the kitchen.

After everything has been put away, you’ll be able to identify where next requires your attention. Roll up your sleeves, it’s time to get wiping those surfaces.

Wipe down all your surfaces

From crumbs on the kitchen worktops to dusty mantle pieces, your next task is to wipe down all of the surfaces in your home. Cleaning wipes work great for this step or if you don’t have any to hand, you can always use a cleaning spray and cloth.

After you’ve wiped down all surfaces, it’s time to move onto the biggest surfaces of all – your floors!

Sweep and vacuum those floors

Sweeping and vacuuming the floors in your home is your next big task. Many people consider this the worst part of cleaning, however, there are speedy ways to get the chore done and with minimal effort.

Start off with sweeping kitchen tiles and laminate floors. You should use a brush on both of these surfaces since a vacuum could end up scratching your flooring. Move up and down the room in clear lines and gather all the dirt into one area before using a dustpan to pick it up to throw away.

Likewise, with vacuuming, set your time and move up and down the room in straight lines. You may need to pay more attention to those nooks and crannies, but the task should be simple enough to do quickly.

Polish your mirrors and glass

Dirt and grime that builds up on glass surfaces including mirrors can make your home look messier than it is. Make sure you don’t neglect your glass surfaces with the polish! Dig out your cloth and buff away until those surfaces are shiny again.

Once your glass has been nicely polished, your home will sparkle a little brighter and look much cleaner.

Disinfect your bathroom fixtures

Bathrooms are oftentimes considered the toughest room in the home to clean. Because we use them so frequently, there’s no wonder they get the dirtiest. However, the good news is that bathrooms are easy to clean. With disinfectant and bleach to hand, all you need to do is pour bleach in the toilet and spray your bathtub.

Once you’ve let the cleaning products work their magic, simply rinse away with water and use a sponge to clean any bits that were missed. Simple stuff!

Straighten your pillows and make beds

It only takes 2 minutes to straighten the pillows on your sofa and make your beds that bit more presentable. If you don’t have the time to change your bedding, don’t sweat it. Just make sure that the throws and pillows have been straightened and your room will look a whole lot better.

If you have throws scattered on your sofas or chairs, take a minute to fold them or place them down so they look a bit neater.

Leftover time? Check your outdoor space

The timer is still ticking, so why not give your outdoor space some TLC? If your patio has seen better days, consider booking in to pressure wash your patio. Pressure washing can literally give patios a new lease of life and leave them looking brand new. If you don’t have the funds to do this, a simple clean up will do.

Brush away any leaves on your patio or decked area and again think about de-cluttering if the space is home to garden gnomes, ornaments, or anything else.

A final cleaning tip!

Remember, don’t stress if your home isn’t cleaned to perfection at the end of the 30 minutes. Just be proud that you’ve dedicated some time to start cleaning and make things feel a little cleaner in the meantime.

Most of the time, it’s the simplest cleaning chores that can make a huge difference. Even if you only manage to get the vacuuming and bathroom cleaned, that’s better than not cleaning at all.
