One of the world’s best hotels – Seclusion & Relaxation in Tuscany: Castello di Vicarello Re-Opens for Summer 2020
One of the world’s best hotels – As lockdown eases and non-essential travel is back on the cards, where will you be heading first? Avoiding the crowds will be a priority for most, so a secluded castle estate with just 9 private suites will provide all the personal space you could need…
Castello di Vicarello, a family run luxury estate situated between Rome and Florence in the untouched Maremma region of Tuscany’s rolling hills and Tyrrhenian Seaside, is once more open to UK visitors, as quarantine restrictions are lifted and non-essential travel is once more permitted from 10 July. Listed as one of the world’s best hotels in Conde Nast Traveller’s 2019 Gold List, guests at Vicarello are offered a high level of privacy, seclusion and personalised service thanks to a fantastic staff and a limited number of suites. With two swimming pools, two kitchen gardens, an al fresco spa and exquisite terraces surrounded by 40 hectares of vineyards and olive groves, guests will feel safe and able to relax in a world away from the recent stress of lockdown.
From the new Spa Suite and a newly launched al fresco menu, to a renovated private villa with its own wine cellar, guests can expect space and serenity at this 12th Century Castello, whilst maintaining its charm and exquisite level of service, which the hotel has become renowned for; and the family living on the hotel grounds ensure each request is met with a personal touch.
Acquired in the 1970’s by Aurora and Carlo Baccheschi Berti, the couple and their family have lovingly restored the characterful building to offer a private Tuscan retreat that boasts contemporary influences and interiors from the family’s travels across the globe; with infusions of Middle-Eastern and Indonesian touches, accompanying the quintessentially Tuscan architecture and aesthetic, with unique pieces of art adorning the walls of the corridors and rooms. Now in the very capable hands of Aurora and Carlo’s son, Neri, careful consideration for the local surroundings and the comfort of guests has culminated in a unique and modern design-led style and sense of relaxed elegance throughout the Castello.
One of the world’s best hotels – Castello di Vicarello attracts discerning travellers looking for an authentic Tuscan experience, whilst not compromising luxury. Nine exquisitely appointed suites comfortably sleep 22 guests in total, whilst an attentive, yet discreet staff are on hand to adhere to every whim. The head chef and team create wholesome Italian cuisine, using ingredients from the gardens and local farmers produce, and meals can be taken in any part of the estate; ideal for social distancing! No request is too big or too small, Neri and his dedicated team continue to offer the exact same charm and sophistication of a bygone era, with the efficiency of modern times.
At Castello di Vicarello, days are spent wandering the estate’s 40 hectares, which have been organic farmland for 25 years, with Carlo Baccheschi Berti and his eldest son Brando establishing a highly successful award-winning vineyard with wine tastings as well as produce that supplies the hotel’s kitchen, including olive oil and vegetables.
