Building on its established reputation as an Adriatic hotspot, the destination is expanding its global reach in 2027 with increased connectivity, fresh coastal developments, and high-profile luxury launches.
This article tells you everything you need to know to plan your 2027 trip to Montenegro.
AIRLIFT

Connectivity to Montenegro reaches new heights in 2027 as easyJet expands its schedule to Tivat with brand-new direct UK connections. The airline’s network expansion includes the inaugural Edinburgh to Tivat route commencing 29 March 2027, followed shortly by a new Birmingham to Tivat route taking off on 3 May 2027. Both routes will operate on a key Monday and Thursday schedule, offering flexible long-weekend and week-long travel itineraries for leisure passengers from Scotland and the Midlands.
NEW ATTRACTIONS

Building on the success of the iconic Kotor–Lovćen Cable Car, Montenegro is further developing its mountain tourism infrastructure with a new cable car connection between Mount Lovćen and the Old Royal Capital, Cetinje. Following the signing of an agreement for the project, design and development are currently underway. The planned connection will further enhance access between Lovćen National Park and Cetinje, creating a new opportunity for visitors to combine Montenegro’s spectacular mountain landscapes with its rich cultural and historical heritage.

Luštica Bay Golf Course – Construction for an 18-hole golf course is currently underway, with the first three holes now open and the first nine holes expected to be complete by the end of 2027, while the full course is projected to be completed by Autumn 2028 – Spring 2029. This course, designed by renowned golfer Gary Player, will be the first of its kind in Montenegro and is set against a stunning backdrop overlooking the Adriatic Sea.
HOTEL OPENINGS & DEVELOPMENT
The Iberostar Selection Montenegro, Montenegro’s first five-star beachfront resort, has recently opened on the Bar Riviera – a beautiful stretch of coast where the deep blue Adriatic meets the green Rumija Mountains. With Mediterranean style running throughout, the resort has 292 suites and villas; 96 suites in the main building offer panoramic sea views and large terraces, some with private jacuzzis, while 196 villas are tucked among pine trees, all offering sea views (and some with private pools), making them ideal for couples looking for an intimate escape or families wanting quality time together. Guests will have direct access to a private beach with crystal-clear water, plus a small dock for arrivals by sea, indoor and outdoor pools, and one of the largest spas in the country measuring 3,700 m².

There are eight restaurants and bars, all of them facing the sea, including Emilia, an Italian restaurant blending Balkan coastal flavours with Italian tradition, and the Salt & Cut grill, which serves local meat and fish. As the sun goes down, the Almar beach bar hosts the Sunset Ritual, with live music and cocktails. Younger guests have access to the Star Camp kids’ club and their own pool. The resort sits just 8km from Bar’s Old Town and is an easy base for exploring Budva, Sveti Stefan, the Bay of Kotor and Lake Skadar.
On the coast, the AMMA Resort is taking shape around a new InterContinental Hotel in Čanj set to offer 200 hotel apartments, three pools, a wellness and spa centre, and four private beaches reachable only by boat, including the celebrated Queen’s Beach. The hotel is expected to open by summer 2027.
In Herceg Novi, two of the destination’s most storied addresses are being reborn. The former Hotel Plaža is undergoing an extensive renovation under new ownership, aiming to return it to the high-end market in 2028. On the site of the former Hotel Igalo, new investors are preparing a modern, high-category hotel and tourism complex. Furthermore, a new high-end hotel from the Carine hotel group is also set to open in Baošići in 2027, while luxury development continues around Portonovi and on the Herceg Novi side of the Luštica peninsula.

Inland, the Old Royal Capital of Cetinje will gain Hotel Lokanda, a 48-bed hotel with a 130-space underground car park, addressing a long-standing shortage of accommodation in the historic city. In the mountain town of Plužine, gateway to the Piva Nature Park, two new hotels have been announced. One will sit within the Sočica restaurant complex, while the other, Hotel Piva, is also planned as part of the town’s expanding accommodation offering. Kolašin is likewise in a phase of intensive hotel development as it builds its profile as a year-round mountain destination.
Coming soon, though, are more luxury properties like the Radisson Blu Hotel & Residences in Tivat, set to open in 2027 with 61 hotel rooms and 44 serviced apartments, as well as an all-day dining restaurant, an expansive terrace restaurant and an exclusive rooftop bar.
HOTELS
Montenegro’s luxury landscape continued to expand across both coastal and northern regions with major new openings and rebrandings in 2026. Complementing Bar’s expanding hotel footprint, the historic King Nikola’s Castle reopened on 20 July following a comprehensive restoration and renovation.

Further enriching Boka Bay’s tourism offer, Banyan Group expanded its footprint with Mamula Island by Banyan Tree alongside Centrale Luštica Bay by Angsana in Luštica Bay’s Piazza. Kerzner International introduced SIRO Boka Place in Tivat, focusing on active lifestyles and overall well-being across fitness, nutrition, sleep, recovery, and mindfulness. Rounding out this coastal growth, the iconic private island resort Aman Sveti Stefan made its return to the Adriatic coast after a five-year closure, reopening its doors for the summer season. As of 1 October 2026, the renowned Regent Porto Montenegro has joined Kerzner International and will operate under its new name, The Quince. Formerly Regent Porto Montenegro, the hotel will continue to welcome guests while embarking on a new chapter as part of Kerzner’s global portfolio. In early 2026, Hotel Budva was rebranded as Crowne Plaza Budva, joining IHG Hotels & Resorts, one of the world’s leading hotel groups, and bringing its premium Crowne Plaza brand to Budva.
