Escape to The Cotswolds With Us

Come with me to a land of golden stone, expensive number plates and exquisite foodie spots…The Cotswolds.

It feels exclusive, luxurious and romantic mooching around the picturesque villages in The Cotswolds that the likes of Kate Moss and Jeremey Clarkson choose to call home.  Of course, you are under two hours away from London but the deep, wistful valleys and listed buildings will have you believing you are the main character in your own romantic novel.

Burleigh Court Restaurant & Hotel

To complete the fantasy of course you need to arrive at a suitably aesthetic abode. Burleigh Court Hotel has 18 charming rooms to choose from.  They ooze country house charm with a contemporary twist and the food here is worth the drive alone.  We enjoyed an exceptional, elevated Sunday Roast here and the breakfast was also a treat.

Burleigh Court is a boutique manor house hotel and is full of captivating country charm with a splash of luxury. Consider this your home away from home, nestled in four acres of gardens with stunning views over the golden valley.

Take the opportunity to go slow. Escape the busyness of everyday life with countryside walks, in-room treatments, and locally sourced food. Or choose a cosy corner to sit and read.

There’s plenty of country charm and seriously good food waiting for you.

Luxury Cotswold Retreats

If you prefer the space, privacy and flexibility of self-catering accommodation then look no further than Luxury Cotswold Retreats.  A seamless experience of ease, comfort and quality.  They have a range of cottages, all decorated with impeccable taste by the Cotswold Grey company.

The Luxury Cotswold Retreats difference is based on hand picking the best holiday cottages and private country houses available, whose owners pride themselves in creating a home away from home that is a world away.

We stayed in Walnut Cottage in the village of Moreton-in-Marsh.  You are a short drive from neighbouring villages such as Kingham and Stow-on-the-Wold which all have their own unique, movie like charm.  There is much to be said of driving around some the local producers.  The eggs we bought from Crackleberry Farm Shop were superb.

Where we ate

The food scene is this part of the world is thriving.  We ate very well at The Crown at Church Enstone and the Kingham Plough.  These unassuming, local pubs are producing sophisticated plates of food in cosy surroundings with fabulous wine lists.  There is deep hospitality experience at play here and they are a foodie’s dream.

The Crown at Church Enstone

One sunny afternoon at The Crown we enjoyed Deep Fried Crispy Cod Skins and Smoked Cod Roe, hand-made Orecchiette with Asparagus and Wild Garlic with a Cornish Fish Stew all washed down with locally produced fizz.  It was a sublime experience and demonstrated the care and attention put into the monthly changing menu.

Depending on how your “romantic novel main character” is feeling, there are lot of areas of outstanding natural beauty to explore, such as the Batsford Arboretum.  She might equally feel Hidcote Manor and Gardens are more her speed.

You will never regret a trip to this part of the world, I didn’t find my romantic novel hero here but as soon as I do I will be back!
