When I go away to a spa, I love to feel transported, delighted and truly spoilt!
Bedford Lodge Hotel and Spa enables you to feel transported to horse racing country, with nods to the area through fun artwork, to the elegant equine creatures crossing the road to the stables on site as we arrived, it was lovely to feel like a lady of the manor at the Lodge. The Hotel and Spa are in beautiful grounds near Newmarket, it took us around an hour and half to get there from London. Just far enough to feel like a trip away from normality.
You will find the spa is high-end and spotlessly clean with all the amenities you would want. The soothing smells of essential oils permeate throughout and the staff our warm, welcoming and professional. The 60-minute full body massage was absolutely excellent with a gorgeous room to relax in afterwards.

We had a light lunch with Champagne to start and then slipped into our robes for a day of complete relaxation. The double heighted windows flood the spa pool area with natural light to boost that Vitamin D and it is delightful to be bathed in sunlight while relaxing. There are steam rooms, saunas, outdoor hot tubs and relaxation rooms throughout.
The hotel also boasts a large swimming pool, sauna, steam room, fully equipped gym and jacuzzi. A morning swim is my perfect way to wake up and really added to the experience of being spoilt.

Being a foodie, the main reason I would return here is for the Squires Restaurant! Wow, hotel restaurants can sometimes ‘cater for all’ and not really be the main selling point, but here I was in love. Credit to the chef and the team—there are some 10/10 dishes on that menu. To say I was delighted would be an understatement.
If you’re exploring other dining destinations, you might also want to check out the best restaurant in Bath, as Bath offers its own culinary gems worth experiencing.

The Hogget Lamb was sensational! Perfectly cooked, excellent balance of flavours which took me to food heaven. The Parma Violets Sorbet with dark chocolate was also a stroke of genius. Lots of lovely touches here making it a destination restaurant rather than part of a hotel. A rare thing.
The excellence carried through into breakfast! Loved the selection on the menu with fun items like the Breakfast Burrito, although I was still talking about the lamb at that point to anyone who would listen!

The rooms are classically styled with everything you would need, including a large bath although the twin beds were a little on the small side for me, I did leave with a heavy heart wishing my stay was longer.
If you struggle to find a hotel with a top notch restaurant, Bedford Lodge is it! We will certainly be returning.
