The World is Your Oyster at Yorkshire College of Beauty

Recently we told you about the ‘Friday Salon’ at the Yorkshire College of Beauty in Leeds, here you can book in for treatments of your choice with the private students at a greatly reduced cost, even more important now in these times of economic uncertainty.

This excellent service allows you to maintain your self-care regime without giving your bank balance a nasty shock! You are also supporting the progression and experience of the students, allowing them to achieve their dreams of becoming a fully qualified beauty therapist.

There are many treatments to choose from, facials, massages, manicures and pedicures, waxing, electrolysis, electrical face and body treatments, eyelash and eyebrow treatments, even holistic therapies to relax and rejuvenate you from top to toe.

On my own first visit, I had a wonderful Galvanic Facial. On my second visit I enjoyed a lovely relaxing 30-minute Back massage from Lucy Murgatroyd and on my third I had a manicure and pedicure with Ify Mbaeliachi.

It’s true to say I am working my way through the treatment list and so far, I have been pleasantly surprised, in fact delighted by the professionalism of the students performing the treatments. They have been trained to a very high standard not only on how to do the treatments, but also how to speak with and interact with their clients. Let’s face it, this can not be easy for such young people, but the students at Yorkshire College of Beauty take it all in their stride.

In fact, the students I had for my treatments talked me through every aspect of what they were doing and why. It is great to see how confident they are in their skills and themselves.

This salon is such a fantastic initiative, giving the students vital experience with the general public and being able to put into practice everything they have been taught, in readiness for the next stage in their careers – a job in a salon.

But working in a local salon is not the only opportunity for the students. They can choose to progress their career in a spa or on a cruise ship. The college works in partnership with many cruise lines which opens not only local, but world-wide opportunities.
