The Fascinating World of Aesthetics Revealed

@emmiebhungry asks CEO and Founder of Vanity Lab London Lucy McGeough, what’s next?

When Lucy started her career over 15 years ago, Botox and fillers were the preserve of celebrities and the rich housewives of Essex. Many scorned women when the media was flooded with pictures of hugely inflated lips and faces that didn’t move let alone age. Since that time  “the advancements in training, knowledge and products within aesthetics have come a long way” says Lucy.

Despite being a qualified nurse Lucy always had a passion for beauty and glamour. From the outset she loved empowering women to feel the best version of themselves and today she has built a loyal army of patients (including celebrities), who go for her natural looking “tweakments” and state of the art treatments.

So, what has changed?

“Botox and Fillers are still the aesthetics go to treatments for many but the understanding of the anatomy, the placement of the product and how they can affect the ageing of the skin has changed enormously”.

These days there is a huge demand for skin boosters, Polynucleotides and skin tightening devices that regenerate the skin rather than just sit in it. These skin rejuvenation treatments work by stimulating collagen production and hydration at a cellular level. Over time skin appears smoother, more supple with a visible glow.

As we age our cells do not function as efficiently as they once did and regenerative medicine is capable of regenerating tissue, stimulating collagen, fibre blast production and repairing DNA damage.

There is now a much bigger focus on improving the texture of the skin. Combined with Botox and fillers the results can be astonishing.  Patients before and after transformations are natural, glowing, moving youthful versions of themselves with healthy looking skin rather than the thin shiny appearance over filled faces can give.

The focus with skin boosters and Polynucleotides is rejuvenated yet untouched skin. People will notice you look amazing but have no idea why!

Lucy invests heavily on her own self development and aesthetics training. In an industry that is ever changing it is essential. In the last six months she has attended masterclasses by Dr Uche and Dr Ayad, all giving new perspectives on their areas of specialism and reassuring her she is doing the best for her patients.

Her advice to everyone when considering a treatment is to research your practitioner thoroughly and “let a well-respected practitioner advise you on what will benefit you the most”.
