Dubai’s Tourism Growth Continues With 5.3 Million Visitors In Early 2025

Dubai continues to raise the bar in global tourism, evolving from a desert dreamscape into one of the world’s most popular travel destinations. With star-studded marketing campaigns and architectural grandeur, the city has carved out a place at the top of every traveller’s bucket list and achieved record-setting visitor numbers.

Dubai’s tourism sector kicked off strong during the first quarter of 2025. According to the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, the city welcomed 5.31 million international visitors in Q1 2025, marking a 3% increase. The milestone moment, however, came in 2024 when the emirate surpassed its pre-pandemic peak by drawing 18.7 million international tourists — a 9% year-on-year increase.

This continuous tourism growth demonstrates Dubai’s determination to become a leading holiday destination . Both destinations draw in millions of tourists each year, with incredible cuisine, family-friendly activities, and great weather.

Strategic star-powered tourism campaigns

Dubai’s global image isn’t just built on steel and sand — it’s built on stories. The emirate’s marketing strategy over the last few years has become a case study in global brand engagement, harnessing the power of celebrity influence and cinematic storytelling to help boost travel to the destination.

Dubai’s latest campaign, ‘Find Your Story’, features Millie Bobby Brown, renowned actor and UNICEF ambassador, alongside her husband, Jake Bongiovi. From breathtaking dunes to towering skyscrapers, the campaign captures the city’s multifaceted identity with flair.

This is just one of many dazzling efforts for Dubai tourism featuring celebrities. Previous campaigns have featured Park Seo-joon, Park Hyung-sik, and Choi Woo-shik in ‘Dubai: Who’s Ready?’, Zac Efron and Jessica Alba in ‘Dubai: A Romance to Remember’, and more.

Behind every successful tourism campaign lies a city capable of delivering on its promise, and Dubai does so with enviable ease. Dubai boasts one of the world’s busiest and most efficient airports, Dubai International (DXB), with travellers passing through from around the world. Its airline, Emirates, remains a symbol of luxurious global travel, connecting over 150 cities. For the 2024-25 period, Emirates reported an outstanding financial performance with an AED 22.7 billion profit ($6.2bn US), an 18% year-over-year increase.

As one of the most visited cities in the world, Dubai is home to more than 820 hotels with over 150,000 rooms, catering to every type of traveller. From luxury properties to family-friendly resorts, the city continues to invest in diversified lodging to meet the growing influx of tourists, including private islands and sky-high swimming pools.

Coming in 2025, Ciel in Dubai Marina is a stunning new development that will set a new benchmark as the world’s tallest hotel once complete. Designed by NORR Group, a London-based award-winning architect, the striking hotel design includes contemporary interiors and an incredible glass observation deck with a 360-degree view.

As we move deeper into 2025 and beyond, Dubai is showing the world what modern tourism can look like when ambition meets execution. This popular destination isn’t just attracting visitors, it’s inspiring the global tourism industry to dream bigger, go bolder, and build better.
