Explore Portugal’s Wine Country – or Don’t!

A 30 minute drive from Lisbon, in the view of the Socorro and Archeira mountains is the town of Torres Vedras and the Wyndham resort, Dolce Camporeal Lisboa

Having stayed in two of the Wyndham hotels in Portugal, I love the fact they have such strong identities aligned to their locations.  Dolce Camporeal is the Juliet to the Wyndham Grand Algarve’s Romeo, full of romantic vistas and soft edges.

Here we find ourselves in Portugal’s wine country.  The rolling hills that are blessed by winds from the Atlantic Ocean have been making incredible Portuguese wine since the early 1700s.  The hotel is linked to three local wineries and every bottle we were presented with from the region was excellent.

This is the perfect resort to head to after a couple of nights in Lisbon for a hit of pure, luxurious relaxation.  There is very little need to leave once you arrive.  With the Amai Spa for couple’s massages, the 24 hour gym, golf courses with views to die for and pools and restaurants, it really is a self-contained slice of heaven.

This hotel has embraced a soft femininity which comes from a careful, subtle colour palette on the inside which lets the vibrant blue, yellow and greens of the nature and the hotel’s exterior shine.  I breathed a happy sigh and I padded into my spacious yet cosy, soft furnished yet cool, gorgeous room with the most breath-taking of views.

The views here are stunning!  From the Garden Terrace restaurant where you can enjoy the most delectable seafood rice and Rose wine to the newly renovated Manjapao restaurant with its clean, soft aesthetic, the views and food are consistently good.  The staff have all worked at the resort for many years and are keen and passionate about the quality of the food and wine from the region.

I fell in love with the large, outdoor infinity pool. I felt not one inclination to leave but if you did want to visit the beach,  Santa Cruz is just a 20 minute drive away.

We did venture into Torres Vedras which is coincidently twinned with my hometown of Wellington in Somerset, hence the bar being named the Wellington Bar (which I thought was unusual).  The town is full of rustic charm and excellent restaurants so well worth tearing yourself away for.

If you love the combination of beautiful romantic scenery, 5 star luxury, wine and golf this could be your next Portugal getaway destination.
