Hyatt House

We sent our writer, Rachel McAlley to spend a night at Hyatt House in one of the King Bedroom Studios, with breakfast included and lunch at Zoom.
First impressions of this new Leeds hotel are that it’s in a prime location, just a 10-minute walk from the city centre. The front doors open onto a newly designed green space, where locals sit on the grass eating lunch in the sunshine. Once inside, the reception area is bright, open, and welcoming. Equally, the reception team were eager to help, smiling whilst working, and able to answer any questions and queries that I had.
My guest and I checked-in and were given wooden key cards to our room on the 9th floor. We stayed in a King Bed Studio with Kitchenette. The view was over the train station, across to Trinity Shopping Centre, and beyond to the many cranes that are currently building the city’s high-rise businesses and apartment blocks. Excellent for people watching!
The studio itself offered the biggest smart TV I have ever seen. Not only was it the focal point of the lounge area, but it was a swivel TV and separated the lounge area from the bedroom. The lounge offered a very comfortable L-shaped sofa with squishy cushions. Plus, a large footstool that could also double as a coffee table as it housed a bed tray/laptop stand.
Equally, the kitchenette, located off the lounge had all the equipment needed to cook a meal and wash dishes. Including a hob, microwave, dishwasher, sink, fridge, toaster, coffee machine, kettle, and all the necessary utensils. Also, the crockery quality was high end, which sat alongside complimentary tea, coffee, sugar, washing-up liquid and dishwasher tablets. I personally like that the room had a recycling bin too.
We ordered takeaway and enjoyed eating it on the breakfast bar, where we watched TV and relaxed into the evening in our Hyatt House studio.
We spent a little time on the sofa reading before heading to bed, where we turned the TV around and set it to stream Netflix. In addition, the bathroom had a really large rainforest shower, with KenetMD Skincare including shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner.
Breakfast

After a great night’s sleep, we ventured to the restaurant for a hot breakfast. Firstly, the selection of both hot and continental breakfast products was immense. Secondly, there was a vast choice of cereals, juices, pastries, fruit, cheeses, and meats. Thirdly, the hot selection included everything you could possibly want from a hot buffet. Finally, the coffee machine had plenty of choices including a milky chocolate, latte, cappuccino, and so much more.
The staff who worked at breakfast were absolutely brilliant. They made sure everything was clean and tidy, they were happy to answer any breakfast related questions. Equally, they kept the food topped-up at all times. Furthermore, the breakfast buffet was busy, and the entire team were cool, calm, and collected.
Zoom Restaurant & Bar

After checking out of the hotel we spent the morning shopping in the city, and when mid-afternoon arrived, we strolled back to the hotel to enjoy lunch at Zoom.
Zoom serves modern classics, so we opted for nachos (£6), and popcorn shrimp (£8) to start; the homemade salsa was the best I have ever tasted. Our mains included fish, chips and mushy peas (£18) alongside halloumi flatbread (£11). The beer-battered fish was absolutely divine, and that wasn’t even my dish! We ordered a side of fries (£6) and onion rings (£6), and the onion rings were super morish and were battered perfectly. Additionally, desserts were rocky road Sunday (£8) and fresh fruit salad (£8). Moreover, the fresh fruit was the ideal ending with a gorgeous scoop of blackcurrant sorbet on top. In fact, we couldn’t have asked for a better meal.

The menu is served all day between 11.30am and 9.30pm, and Sunday lunch plus Sunday dinner are served weekly between 12 noon and 9.30pm.
We left Hyatt House Leeds and Zoom full, happy, and ready for a new adventure!
