An impressive historic building in London, The Royal Horseguards Hotel is perfectly situated on the River Thames at the Embankment and encompasses two iconic buildings: The National Liberal Club which has played host to historical icons including Churchill, Gladstone and Lloyd-George; and the club’s magnificent apartments which were previously the home of the first chief of Britain’s Secret Intelligence Service.
Inside you’ll find Victorian grandeur combined with elegant, first-class contemporary comfort which sets The Royal Horseguards Hotel apart as one of the finest hotels near Westminster, Houses of Parliament.
I recently had the pleasure of visiting London for an incredible stay at this beautiful hotel, and with its location on the Thames at the Embankment, opposite the London Eye, it makes the perfect spot for a central city break.
On entering this luxury historical hotel, the first thing you notice is the elegance, in fact from the minute you step through the door. From the pristine reception to the enchanting winding staircase, it really is stunning.
On arrival we were greeted by the friendly reception staff and our luggage was kindly and seamlessly transported to our suite. The staff even gave us recommendations on the local attractions in the area, which were very helpful.
The hotel features many luxury rooms and suites with immaculate decor that defines every room. Our own suite had the most amazing river view, but you can also choose from city and garden views, so there is plenty for everyone to enjoy.
The hotel is only a short journey away from London Euston train station on the tube and is conveniently close to the theatre district. Whilst we were staying, we visited the Savoy Theatre to see Pretty Women, a great show and only a 10-minute walk from the hotel.
In the morning, after visiting the fitness studio for a workout, we headed for breakfast which was a continental style offering with lots of options and variety such as cooked breakfasts, pastries, cereals and build your own yogurt options with a choice of toppings.
The weather was scorching in London, so we decided to visit The Terrace at the Royal Horseguards Hotel, open for a limited time only, to offer the ultimate secret garden inspired experience this summer.
Away from the hustle and bustle of London life, The Terrace is a secluded haven of tranquillity. The people who know, know, and visitors who are privy to this hidden gem are able to slip away to enjoy alfresco cocktails with exceptional service.
The Terrace’s drinks menu is inspired by the Royal Horseguards hotel’s splendour and opulence, with premium cocktails and spritz serves such as its signature, The Terrace Spritz – a mix of gin, elderflower tonic, cloudy apple juice and mint. Guests can take full advantage of this experience by hiring The Terrace for private events and functions, with plenty of space to enjoy summer barbecues and mingling over cocktails into the night.
They have a tasty food menu available too including mains if you’re feeling hungry or small plates and nibbles if you’re just feeling peckish. We kicked back and enjoyed cocktails in the sun.
I would definitely recommend booking The Royal Horseguards Hotel as it has everything you would need for the most perfect staycation, or a romantic city break to explore what London has to offer.
We had an amazing stay and will definitely be back soon.
The Terrace at the Royal Horseguards Hotel is open 12pm-10pm for a limited period over the summer. For more information on the bar and stays at the hotel, please visit: https://www.guoman.com/the-royal-horseguards/meetings-events/the-terrace
