According to travel experts at Byway, in 2024 their travellers incorporated an average of 4.5 destinations into a single trip – a trend they anticipate will continue to grow throughout 2025.
Group trip tour operator, Plotpackers, have experienced a 37% increase in booking enquiries for tripchaining – multi-destination travel (since 1 January 2025), with their customer base wanting to combine multiple itineraries such as Costa Rica with Panama or Sri Lanka with the Maldives, in order to maximise their time spent in these parts of the world.

In response to this growing demand, Plotpackers are intentionally scheduling their 2026 trip dates to allow for more tripchaining opportunities. This shift towards multi-stop, meaningful journeys highlights the demand for sustainable and slow travel – an ethos that drives Plotpackers forward.

Plotpackers – a female-founded and purpose-driven group trip tour operator – is strategically organising some of their group trips to take place within a day or so of each other, allowing travellers to ‘tripchain’, in response to a surge of this recent travel trend. By encouraging travellers to tie trips together, Plotpackers aim to inspire their travellers to reduce their carbon footprint and become more conscious travellers.
Below, we take a look at some of the tripchaining opportunities available with Plotpackers.
Tripchain: Andes to the Amazon (15-23 March 2026) with Wild Trails & Salsa Tales: An Epic Colombian Adventure (25 March-4 April 2026)

For an enriching journey through Latin America, travellers are able to tie these two itineraries together, ticking multiple bucket-list destinations and experiences off the list with Plotpackers’ affordable action-packed itineraries. In Ecuador, travellers will experience both the snow-capped Andean peaks and the biodiverse Amazon rainforest. They’ll zipline through treetops, discover the exotic wildlife of the jungle, and explore charming towns rich in indigenous culture. Instead of bidding farewell at the end of this trip, travellers can make their way to Colombia for the Wild Trails & Salsa Tales trip which takes travellers from the vibrant streets of Medellín to the picturesque town of Guatapé, before setting out for a hike through the Cocora Valley and dancing the night away to the rhythms of Cali’s vibrant salsa culture.

Combining these two South American tours allows for a curated bucket-list experience with a focus on cultural engagement and responsible travel, ensuring a memorable journey that cuts down on carbon emissions.
