The hotel of course! Did you know that you can spend the night in the original Great Scotland Yard? This 5-star luxury hotel is situated just off Whitehall, so within easy strolling distance of all the main tourist sites in London, including Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square and Number 10 Downing St.
The location of Great Scotland Yard Hotel is no accident. This was originally the King of Scotland’s main London residence when he visited the capital and now it can be yours too.
The hotel is a feast for your eyes. Downstairs, the lobby is vibrant with numerous modern art installations, all with a connection to the meaning and history of the hotel. It is almost like visiting a gallery without having to leave.

The riot of colour downstairs gives way to classic elegance in the bedrooms. Soft cream hues, geometric designs and reassuringly thick marble just ooze luxury and if that is not enough, they favour the heated toilet seat as well. The views from the windows give a sneak peak of what Mary Poppin’s London would have looked like, making it incredibly atmospheric.

Great Scotland Yard Hotel has a few surprises for guests. A concealed Speakeasy is hidden away, obviously I can’t say where, but upon entering Sibin you are transported to the moonshine era of 1725 when the English Malt Tax was passed. Sibin literally translates to “illicit whiskey”, an ode to the Scottish distilleries who were forced to produced whiskey underground.
The theme is reflected in the drinks menu of over 80 exclusive whiskeys. If you aren’t a whiskey fan, they have also launched five new cocktails to try. It is a stunning space to spend an evening listening to live music which is on every Thursday and Friday evening.

If Afternoon Tea is more your speed, then let me introduce you to London’s most summery offering. The Parlour has just launched their “Bergamotto di Positano” Afternoon Tea in collaboration with Floris London. A historical royal warrant perfumer since 1730, and yes you get to smell the scent whilst enjoying the tea.
The Parlour is the perfect space to enjoy this experience and adds yet another dimension to an already exciting hotel. Step into colonial Mumbai, sip on Pomello Spritz and indulge in an Afternoon Tea rich in attention to detail and taste. Delights included Frittata di Zucchini and warm scones with orange jam. It all worked beautifully, and the service was just the right side of attentive.
This is a fantastic destination hotel for those who love history, art and luxury.
