London was calling our writer, Rachel McAlley so we asked her to visit Globe Apartments at St Christopher’s Place to check out their accommodation.
As I walked from Bond Street Tube Station on Oxford Street to Globe Apartments on St Christopher’s Place, I soon realised this was one of the busiest streets in the capital. Double Decker London buses everywhere, black cabs for hire, people on every street corner, it was a vibe. It was 20 years ago since I ventured down Oxford Street, and a lot has changed in that time.
There was a mixture of office workers in suits on their mobile phones, tourists exploring and taking photos, plus locals and visitors from out of town shopping. It was great to see such a variety of people all going about their daily business in the area.
Just 3 minutes walk along Oxford Street, strolling down a side street past the world-famous Selfridge’s Department Store I noticed it got slightly quieter. It switched from hustle and bustle to a number of private chauffeur driven cars, awaiting their clients to exit the department store. The area changed from tourist central to a more refined destination.
St Christopher’s Place

I had arrived at St Christopher’s Place, in one of the wealthiest parts of the city, Marylebone. It felt like I had walked into my home city of York, with it’s quirky cobbled streets, and independent shops.
I never knew this quaint shopping area existed until this visit. Every little shop, cafe, restaurant, and store was buzzing with shoppers and diners. The central pedestrianised area of St Christopher’s Place offered plenty of on-street tables and chairs for its respective eateries. The location was also hosting a week of health and wellbeing events for anyone to attend.
Globe Apartments can be found on both James Street and Wigmore Street, they are both part of St Christopher’s Place. I collected my keys form 6-8 St Christopher’s Place before checking in to my Apartment, which was at 15-22 St Christopher’s Place. Once inside the apartment block, I was staying at Flat C, Wigmore Suites.

The entrance is clean, well-lit, and has excellent security. I called the lift to the first floor and walked along the corridor to my apartment.
The door was double locked and I required two separate keys in order to enter the flat. It felt warm and welcoming the second I stepped through the door. To my immediate left was the bathroom, down the hallway and the double bedroom was straight ahead, and to my right was the open-plan living, dining and kitchen.
Perfectly neutral décor, with comfy big sofa, decent dining table with chairs, and excellent kitchen facilities. There was even a welcome pack which included cereal and milk, juice and biscuits, plus tea, coffee and popcorn.
The windows looked over the street, they were triple glazed, and made the rooms very quiet. You would never know there were shops, restaurants, outdoor seating or plenty of people running errands below.
The open-plan living space offered a giant smart TV, sofa and cushions alongside occasional tables, coffee table, and rug. The dining area catered for two guests, with all the necessary crockery and cutlery. Furthermore, the kitchen was decked out with everything including a dishwasher, large sink, and under-unit lighting. Everything has been thought of from the glassware and microwave, to the kettle, Nespresso machine and the dish detergent. I couldn’t have asked for anything better.
More at Globe Apartments

Moving into the contemporary bathroom, which was bright and airy with an over-bath shower, crisp towels, spare loo rolls, and Temple Spa toiletries. Nothing was left to chance, there was everything I could need for a one night stay.
The bedroom was a relaxing serene space, all white walls and bedding, plus a few muted tones in the bed head, cushions and throw. Moreover, the double bed was like sleeping on a fluffy cloud. I slept beautifully, which is rare considering it was a new bed and new surroundings. Especially, as I usually toss and turn, I can be too hot or even too cold, but this was just right. I could have easily stayed a few more nights and been very happy.
Making full use of the facilities while staying at Globe Apartments, I cooked myself dinner after shopping locally for food. It was a pleasure to eat dinner, and sit and watch the TV whilst the streets around me were busy – I was relaxed, and very comfortable indeed.
Final Thoughts

In conclusion, I would 100% recommend staying at Globe Apartments to anyone that wants to be in the centre of everything. It was a stones throw from all the shops, cafes and restaurants that you could possibly need. And, as mentioned previously it’s just a 3-minute walk from the nearest tube station.
I stayed overnight in a Superior One Bedroom Apartment. Prices vary across the year depending on whether it’s booked during peak of off peak times. I can say that it is exceptionally competitive, and that their rates can be better than staying in a hotel nearby.
This particular area of Marylebone is well worth spending some time at. St Christopher’s Place was both a wonderful location and it offered everything and more. I even visited one of the health and wellbeing events, which are hosted regularly throughout the year.
So, if you want to be in the heart of the city of London, this is for you! Visit St Christopher’s Place for more information about their stores and restaurants. Equally, visit Globe Apartments at St Christopher’s Place Estate to book a stay – you won’t regret it!
