Driving into Quinta do Lago feels like you are on your way to visit a Kardashian. This exclusive, award-winning Golf Resort is situated in one of the most affluent communities in Portugal and the mansions and Bentley’s are there as a gentle reminder that your neighbours will be Michael Owen and Peter Jones for the duration of your stay.
The luxury extends to the Wyndham Grand Algarve. This suite-only hotel complex comprises of ultra-modern apartment style suites which are perfect for families or groups. Yes, you could self-cater here as there is a fully functioning kitchen but this is more the kind of place that will order you a chef.
If you love to go on holiday and come back feeling a better version of yourself, the entire resort in the Algarve is designed to facilitate health and wellbeing. Cycling along nature trails or working up a sweat on the paddle courts are just two of the activities available. The resort is host to International football teams who come to train and relax, so you can imagine the standard and range of sports facilities on offer.

The pool area here is spotless, chilled and comfortable and if you can tear yourself away the beach is a 10 minute walk from the hotel and offers a lovely wild contrast to the manicured, country club vibe. Walking over beautiful board walks you can hear the Atlantic Ocean before you see it and the beach is a vast long stretch of golden sand and lively waves.
After all those activities you will be hungry and there is no shortage of good quality restaurants on the resort. Dano’s is a tastefully decorated sports bar, you have to look hard to see it’s a sports bar but clever design and touches make for a wonderfully vibrant lit space to enjoy a post swim cocktail or meal.

Dourado’s is the fine dining option within the hotel and wow did this delivery. From fillet steak, to octopus and pig cheeks, the dishes were cooked with care and attention. The pig cheeks just fell apart and were rich, flavoursome and gave me a taste of their Portuguese cuisine.

What the Wyndham Grand Algarve does really, really well is breakfast! Platters of fresh mango, green smoothies and endless granola toppings are all served with your coffee order from the Barista Bar. Sitting by the cool, stillness of the pool all you really have to do is contemplate is your activity of the day.
Paradise really does exist!
