A secluded Summer holiday the Wild Meadow way
For those eager for a summer escape but not quite ready to return to a bustling resort or busy campsite, Wild Meadow at Raynham in Norfolk offers a unique getaway. Situated in the grounds of one the East of England’s most beautiful stately homes, Wild Meadow is glamorous camping in its truest sense.
Luxury Glamping Escape – Four stunning, hand-crafted yurts are the focal point of this secluded, countryside destination. Generously spaced within a five-acre meadow of wild-flowers, each yurt is effortlessly stylish, offering visitors an exclusive, relaxing break, away from urban life.
Modern, rustic, comfort is at the heart of the Wild Meadow experience. Each yurt contains a super-king bed with sumptuous mattress; luxury bedding; a wood-burning stove and cosy blankets. Outside there is an individual barbecue and outdoor seating area and, importantly, each yurt has its own designated toilet and shower, with Faith in Nature natural toiletries provided. There is mains electricity to each yurt, powering bedside lights and allowing guests to charge mobile devices so they can stay connected with the outside world should they wish to.

Luxury Glamping Escape – As well as barbecue facilities, the (shared) Turnip Tent dining area and cooking tent – named after the Townshend family’s farming heritage – provides plenty of space to prepare and enjoy food together. Each yurt has its own designated fridge and all the cooking equipment needed, however ambitious the chef. Guests can pre-order Raynham Aberdeen Angus beef for the BBQ or a local food and wine hamper to enjoy. They can also explore North Norfolk’s plethora of food and farm shops in nearby villages and towns.
Wild Meadow is a traffic-free zone, ensuring a peaceful and safe environment for all guests and for wildlife, such as deer, rare birds of prey, owls and butterflies. On arrival, guests are provided with a wheelbarrow to transport their belongings from car to yurt, achieving a rustic, off-grid feeling from the very first moment.
Lord Tom Raynham is heir to the Raynham estate and Wild Meadow is one of many ways that he is opening up this incredible historic landscape for more people to enjoy.
“The main attraction of Wild Meadow is always going to be our setting; and the opportunity to relax and recharge with your family and friends in a beautiful, secluded and peaceful location,” says Tom Raynham. “When fitting out the yurts, we tried to anticipate what the most discerning guest would expect and to exceed that expectation. However, we have avoided the temptation to ‘over-design’ our yurts as we know our interiors will always be secondary to the views of the park, farmland and countryside, with Raynham Hall and the estate church in the distance.”
At full occupancy, the maximum number of guests staying at Wild Meadows is 18. It is ideal for larger groups of friends and colleagues as well as couples and smaller family groups.

On site there are waymarked paths from the yurt meadow to woodland, parkland and riverside walks. For those wishing to explore a little more of Norfolk, Raynham is only four miles from Fakenham and a short drive from the North Norfolk coast, with its outstanding beaches including the award-winning Holkham beach and Wells-next-the-sea. While fantastic pubs, restaurants and numerous family-friendly attractions including Pensthorpe Natural Park and the National Trust’s Blickling Estate are within a short drive.
Wild Meadow has two yurts that sleep up to two adults and two children and two that sleep up to two adults and up to three children.
Open from June to September 2021, a holiday for four people starts at £140/night for a 7-night booking in the school holidays.
