Discover Your Own Boutique Bolthole at Hyatt House

Hyatt House is in the heart of Manchester’s innovation district. Located within easy access to the city centre, their studios and one-bedroom suites offer the perfect base from which to discover (or rediscover) the buzz of Manchester, as our writer Victoria Reddington discovered.

I used to be au fait with all things Manchester. A few moons ago (I don’t want to say quite how many!) a daily commute to Manchester whilst working as an Advertising Agency Account Director (or ‘suit’ to use the industry slang) was the norm, as was regular nights out making the most of the local bar and restaurant scene. However, I had never stayed at Hyatt House before.

A career change and a location shift to Leeds, meant visiting Manchester has become something I have since done extremely rarely, if at all. When I was invited to spend a few days in Manchester visiting Northern Fashion Week with a colleague, I was therefore excited to rediscover Manchester through my stay in the city.

Location-wise I needed to be near Manchester Central Conference/Exhibition Centre for the event I was attending and also within easy access of Manchester’s dining, shopping and social scene. Hyatt House Manchester was therefore an ideally base.

Located the heart of the city’s exciting business innovation district, Hyatt House Manchester has 116 studios and one-bedroom apartments featuring fully equipped kitchens, living and working spaces. As a functional alternative to a traditional hotel, the practicality of Hyatt Manchester certainly appealed. What I wasn’t necessarily expecting, was how very stylish and chic the hotel and the rooms were!

It’s very much a boutique bolthole rather than an aparthotel. From the airy insta-worthy lobby that greets you upon entrance, to the modern and sleek fittings within the apartment itself. There was a great amount of space and light (with some amazing views out of the city – I could watch that for hours, especially at night!).

The open plan kitchen and living area was spacious and modern, with the twin bedroom accessed through a door to a separate room which had an en-suite bathroom attached.

Although I’d have been happy to cook up a storm in the apartment kitchen, after a long day working (and it being a Friday night) the city lights were calling! So myself and my colleague headed out for dinner and drinks in Deansgate.

Motley, a restaurant located within Deansgate’s YOTEL, has a reputation for dialled back friendly service and great food and drinks. First impressions delivered on the atmosphere with lush greenery around the outside and a laid back, cool and contemporary décor on the inside, immediately getting us in the mood for a lively Friday night.

The menu is filled with uncomplicated, ingredient-led, homely, local and seasonal dishes. We both opted for the Roast Chicken Breast with earl barley and rainbow chard risotto, which was tender, tasty and satisfying. For dessert, it had to be the Churros with cinnamon sugar and chocolate sauce. Slightly decadent but extremely delicious.

Upon the recommendation of our waiter, our cocktail of choice was a Pink Pornstar Martini with vanilla vodka, velvet falernum, passionfruit, pineapple, lemon and grenadine. If the proof is in the tasting, let’s just say we definitely ordered a second round!

After an evening exploring the local bars, returning to Hyatt House to discover that the beds were just as comfy as they looked, was very welcome.

Before we checked out, we enjoyed breakfast served in the beautiful and stylish The Laureate Restaurant. A delicious, freshly cooked full English breakfast certainly hit the spot. There is also a wide range of continental options available.

A great stay at Hyatt Hotel meant we were raring to take on the working weekend with well-rested anticipation. After my stay and re-visiting the local area, it turns out I may just have re-discovered a passion for Manchester after all.
