The Duke and the Duchess take a great personal interest in the planning and decoration of the holiday cottages, and as such they reflect the traditional country lifestyle and homely feel, with a mixture of antique and classical furniture, sumptuous soft furnishings, original and interesting artwork and book collections, giving a ‘home from home’ ambience. Practicalities and comfort reflect the immersion of guests in the outdoor settings, and include boot rooms, heated floors, drying racks, with many of the boltholes enjoy the ultimate in country comforts – an AGA range cooker and wood burning stove. The Chatsworth Collection



Our ‘signature’ collection comprises of nine magnificent, well-equipped properties situated within or in close proximity to Chatsworth, including unique properties including an impressive Hunting Tower (c1582)- an elevated retreat, romantically situated in the heart of the estate, originally built for Bess of Hardwick to spectate the hunt cross the parkland below. Gardener’s Cottage, opposite the custom-built village of Edensor survived the 6th Duke’s upheaval of its neighbouring cottages which were remodelled as to not spoil the view. The collection also includes the highly decorative Russian and Swiss Cottages, charming, traditionally thatched Park Cottage, and a cluster of barn conversions from which to soak up panoramic views over Calton Lees Valley. New for 2021, Plantation Cottage is undergoing full refurbishment and is perfectly situated for a stroll to Chatsworth House, right on the edge of the estate.
The Upperdale Collection



The quiet and picturesque hamlet of Upperdale lies in the heart of the Peak District, in one of Derbyshire’s most stunning valleys ‘The Monsal Dale’ with unforgettable views from ‘Monsal Head’, are a collection of farmhouse and barn conversions enjoying both breath-taking views and proximity to the River Wye. Only a stone’s throw from the delightful market town of Bakewell. Recently converted Dipper Cottage sleeps 4, and boasts a double height living room area with exposed beams, underfloor heating throughout, woodburning stove, private walled BBQ terrace area and sleek, modern bathroom facilities.
The Heathy Lea Collection
These three properties are part of the outbuildings of the original Heathy Lea House, The Stables, The Old Wash House and The Barn, located on the northern edge of Chatsworth Park, with far-reaching views over picturesque parkland and the hills beyond. The grounds open directly onto Chatsworth Park, where guests can freely roam, and reach Chatsworth House with a 20 minute stroll and spy red deer herds roaming free.
The Ballcross Farm Collection
Ballcross Farm, originally built in 1688, is a collection of six lovingly restored barn conversions, superbly positioned in an elevated spot, where guests can experience the spectacular beauty of Derbyshire and the Peak District, including the Chatsworth Estate.
Two of the cottages have recently been converted, including architect designed, single storey Dunsa Cottages (sleeps 2) with its attractive open-plan living area, and king size bedroom area beyond a glass and oak screen; and Bubnell Barn (sleeps 4) sleek, single storey and offering open plan, modern living at its finest. An accessibility room is available in Ball Cross Farmhouse, featuring a twin bedroom and large en suite wet room.
These cottages enjoy easy proximity to Pilsley, with the Chatsworth Farm Shop and its own local inn (the Group’s own ‘Devonshire Arms’) and Bakewell.
Yorkshire Farmhouse Properties
Two highly appealing and well-appointed residences on the Duke’s Bolton Abbey Estate, are traditional stone farmhouses, Wharfe View Cottage and Stank House Farm. Both of these luxurious farmhouses sleep up to six guests and have superb interiors with all the finesse of a fine country house. Highlights of the sumptuous interiors include exposed original oak beams, wood burning stoves, stone-flagged under floor heating, boot and cloakroom facilities, traditional period style bathrooms, and large farmhouse tables for family gatherings. Both cottages enjoy panoramic views from their elevated position, Wharfe View, as its name suggests, overlooks the stunning Wharfe Valley, and Stank House has the added draw of a hot tub on the outside terrace area. Another pleasure of staying here is close proximity of The Devonshire Arms Hotel and Spa and The Devonshire Fell, for enjoyment of their facilities including The Devonshire Arms Spa.
