AUSOUNDS HEADPHONES REVIEW: MAKING NOISE IN THE UK

Having made waves across the US, Canada and Japan, Los Angeles based Ausounds finally dropped their range of cutting-edge earphones in the UK at the start of 2021. With features ranging from active noise cancelling to their very own AU-Flex ANC, which blends a planar magnetic driver for crystal-clear top and midrange frequencies with a dynamic driver for deep bass.

Designed to give the likes of Apple a run for their money, the collection is also effortlessly stylish with prices ranging from £120 up to £230 for those looking to blow their budget. And, if money is no option, the Ausounds AU-Flex ANC wireless headphones are well worth considering.

Deemed ‘exceptionally good’ by Hi-Fi+, these nifty earphones picked up the High-Value Earphone of The Year award in 2020. Noted for their punchy bass thanks to the dynamic driver which acts like a miniature subwoofer, they can also handle around three times more detail than other Bluetooth earphones.

We road-tested a pair of the AU-Stream True Wireless Earbuds, which brought the wow-factor and blew Apple out of the water as far as punchy bass and price are concerned. These lightweight buds come with a sleek and compact charging case, which offers up to 20 hours of juice on top of 6 hours from the buds alone.

Compatible with both Siri and Google Assistant, the buds are also sweat and water-resistant, making them perfect for working out. What we liked most, however, was the powerful sound they create. We tested the buds with everything from radio-friendly pop and rock to heavier dance sounds.

Daft Punks debut album Homework has never sounded so good on-the-go, with the AU-Stream buds handling the funk of Around the World and the hard-edged squelch of Rock n’ Roll with ease. I often find Bluetooth earphones are not loud enough for my taste, but this pair can go louder than I can handle with minimal distortion.

We also found the built-in microphone to handle Zoom calls very efficiently, which is an essential feature for us in the modern world. A brand to watch in 2021 and beyond, we can’t recommend the Ausounds AU-Stream buds enough and can’t wait to hit the gym with them next month.

Ausounds AU-Stream earbuds are currently available here for £89.99.
