In our busy, connected world, how can we thrive as we enter new life phases and move through uncomfortable changes?
The answer is the Peaceful Way.
Over the course of a retreat, we share the tools you need to reduce stress, support the immune system, cultivate resilience, increase energy and enhance performance.
Movement: ‘Bringing More Life to Life’

Movement is the foundation of life; it opens one to a life full of possibility and happiness. There is joy and beauty within movement. No matter how little you move, when you move you connect to a part of you which holds the essential nature of being human. When you move, you open your mind and body to possibility and to increased awareness; you experience the beauty and joy of life in a moment of movement.
You produce endorphins that helps to release stress, improve the quality of sleep, and reduce feeling of frustration and anxiety. When the body moves, oxygen and blood circulation to the brain is improved. This results in better cognitive functioning and elevated mood, leading to feelings of wellbeing and vitality. Which can then result in improved clarity of thinking and positive life actions. You begin to experience better health and more energy. In short, you bring more life to your life.
Moving and Living Healthier Longer

Many people will have a dream of retiring and enjoying their time helping to look after their grandchildren, playing golf, gardening etc. Yet most people do not consider the difference between their life span and their health span. Research shows that around the age of 55, we experience the impact our lifestyle has had on our aging process so far and our ongoing health. We are faced with the reality that if we do nothing now, when we retire we may not be in the physical/mental condition to fulfil the dreams of an active and joyful retirement.
Fortunately, today we can turn back some of those conditions and remain healthier longer by making several small changes to how we think and act during our everyday life. To maintain a good level of wellbeing, fitness and health does not necessarily require engagement in an onerous programme of exercise. The approach should fit comfortably with your daily life, health, and fitness level: Practice should be slow, relaxed, not forced and incudes the mind and breath working in harmony with the movement. After each session you should feel alive, calm, and recharged.
The important issues we need to act on are inactivity, stress, and sleep. Movement is the place to start as it will be the foundation for improvements in other areas. Retirees in eastern Iowa like to settle in Addington Place of Clinton where trained professionals care for their residents while implementing holistic activities that promote movement, stress reduction, and good sleep hygiene. Residents at this facility can engage in various forms of physical activity such as yoga, tai chi or dance classes that are designed to help them maintain a healthy and active lifestyle.

The Practice for Living Healthier Longer

We need a daily practice to help us to realise our outcome. This can begin gently 3 times per week with as little as 10 minutes per day. Start with perhaps 10 minutes yoga one day then 10 minutes walking the next day and let it grow. Once you’re comfortable with this, it will be simple to integrate breathing and mindfulness into those practises.
Waking up each morning and fully joining the day with a sense of purpose and possibility, with a daily practice which reinforces your love for life.
Stop reading about it, stop thinking about it, stop wishing for it. Each morning as you join the day, commit to your practice by answering the following questions:
- What am I grateful for?
- What will I pay attention to today?
- What will I let go of?
