If you’re outside of the sphere of exercise, if you’re trying to permeate it to force it into your regular routine, you might be aware of how much of a struggle that can be. You might have worked out by now that the trick is to make it something that you enjoy, but this is easier said than done, and sometimes, it’s just hard to think of anything that ticks those boxes.
In order to find your answer, you might need to push your boundaries and try something new. While this requires a leap of faith to begin with, the exercise results might be the change in lifestyle that you’re looking for.
1. Involve Your Friends

The most obvious answer is simply to get your friends involved, as that can help to make anything a more enjoyable version of itself. This might mean that you take up some team sports, such as kicking a ball around in a green space, or it might mean something more dedicated, like pairing up for some regular doubles tennis. Starting this off as something that’s fun to do and an alternative to what you would normally do as a group might allow it to eventually transition into something that’s more focused on maintaining an active schedule in this regard.
2. Make it a Holiday

This is also an opportunity to see more of the world — especially the areas closer to you. It’s easy to feel as though local holidays don’t have as much value as travelling overseas, but taking yourself to some of these areas might open your eyes to just how much you’ve been missing. Finding expansive green spaces near you, or areas that are known for walking holidays might get you interested in joining in. A suitable pair of men’s or women’s walking boots are essential here, but once you’re equipped, you might find yourself ready to handle any terrain.
3. Reflect an Interest

Alternatively, you might find that combining something that you already enjoy with the prospect of exercise can help to cross this bridge. Gaming is one example of this, and looking back, you can see how mobile games like Pokémon Go encouraged players to become more active by integrating the game into the walking. While that might not be quite to your taste, getting creative and thinking outside the box might lead you to solutions that better fit your own interests.
4. Reward Systems

What if all else fails, then? What if you can’t manage to make it fun at all, despite your best efforts? Well, in that case, there’s one more thing that you could try. Looking outside of the exercise itself could allow you to develop something of a reward system. Forcing yourself to go for a run or a swim might mean that you reward yourself with something when you return, like an hour of gaming or watching something that you’ve been wanting to catch up on, or even getting some nice food. This might help to forge a positive association.
