Mention afternoon tea, and perhaps delicate china and iced fancies come to mind – an elegant occasion at which to while away the afternoon hours.
Let’s do a re-think, as The Fell Hotel’s latest offering is a “Yorkshire themed” afternoon tea with tasty filling savouries, rounded off by baked favourites to satisfy a more hearty appetite.
Paying homage to some great Yorkshire food traditions, it’s a treat in store for Yorkshire-philes and food lovers everywhere – and with Father’s Day just around the corner (June 15th) this could make for a gift experience that’s a bit different?
Tasty Yorkshire pud’s, filled to the brims with roast beef and horseradish and rabbit sausage rolls join the line-up of tasty savouries, along with sandwiches too, including cheese & chive and ham & mustard.

Sweet treats incorporate some of the county’s favourite bakes including traditional fruitcake with Wensleydale, Black Sheep milk stout cake and Yorkshire curd tart, replace the fancy delicately-iced cakes, although these can still be enjoyed with the hotel’s traditional afternoon tea offering – so there’s an afternoon tea to suit all tastes now, with vegan and vegetarian options also available.
There’s one thing that you can depend on though in each of the afternoon teas, and that is the freshly-baked fruit scones, home-made strawberry jam and clotted cream, which retains its pride of place, accompanied of course by a strongly brewed pot of Yorkshire tea.

The whole experience is served with superb views across the fells and dales, completing a top day out to Burnsall for those who appreciate local Yorkshire food, with many of the ingredients sourced locally and even some lucky Dads being treated to a fine afternoon tea experience at this wonderful Dales hideaway.
Traditional and ‘Yorkshire’ Afternoon teas are £27.50 pp, gift vouchers available, served 7 days a week -12 noon – 4pm. (vegan, veggie versions are available for both, and other dietary requirements are also catered for)
