Good question: where do you take a proper Yorkshire breakfast connoisseur? Residence Headingley of course!
Is there a better way to start the week than enjoying a mighty Yorkshire breakfast?
That’s exactly what my Dad and I did on Monday at the Residence in Headingley. We were excited to try out their brunch menu and it didn’t disappoint.
As first-timers at Residence, we liked the visual appeal of the restaurant when we stepped inside. There’s lots of high-spec fittings and it’s bright, airy and vibrant. We got a really warm welcome from a member of the front of house team and were seated quickly, with drinks orders placed.
As a coffee afficionado, my drinks order was a no brainer, but it was nice to get a fresh juice order in too for a vitamin boost, and our respective orders of cranberry and orange were good quality and refreshing.
One of the things I liked about the place was its diversity – there were families, groups of friends and mums and toddlers, and it all felt laid back and friendly.
Let’s talk food. My Dad – who’s a proper breakfast connoisseur, went for a full English. He liked the variety of ingredients, from the juicy field mushrooms to the bacon and black pudding, and the chef was happy to cook everything well done as requested.
I opted for my absolute favourite: Eggs Florentine. There was a generous amount of hollandaise and fresh spinach and the eggs were top notch too. Although taste is of course the most important aspect of any meal out, it helps to know your plates are going to be Insta-worthy too!
The portion sizes of both options left us feeling satisfied without needing to roll home afterwards.
Oh, and the coffee was gorgeous too.
It felt a little unorthodox to get ready and head out at 9am on a Monday morning, but I reckon it’s the way forward!
Residence is now open for brunch, lunch and dinner – easy to find, reasonably priced and bloody delicious. Nice one team!
