As mid-summer fast approaches we can’t let it pass by without mentioning the new Summer Smoothies at Black Sheep Coffee. We sent our writer, Rachel McAlley into York to sample some of the new smoothie range within this well-known coffee shop.
As always, Black Sheep Coffee in York city centre was bustling with locals and tourists. Not many students though with it being the summer holidays. It was great to see such a mix of customers all enjoying something from the new summer drinks range.
The Smoothies
We found a table, and placed our smoothie order, plus we had to have an Acai Bowl or two because they are simply delicious! Happily, we opted for a Pineapple & Passionfruit Smoothie, and a Strawberry & Banana Smoothie. Both were so good, but the Pineapple and Passionfruit was my favourite, it was packed with flavour. The only downside, I drank it too quickly!
There’s an option to add a functional booster to your smoothie. So, we could have chosen a Brain Blend Shot, Beauty Blend Shot, Gut Blend Shot, or a CBD Blend Shot. The blends all bring something extra, like Lion’s Mane Mushroom in the Brain Blend, and Marine Collagen in the Beauty Blend. Plus, Pre-Biotic Fibres in the Gut Blend, and Bio-Available Formula in the CBD Blend. We decided not to try any blends on this trip, but quite fancied the sound of the addition of collagen in the Beauty Blend, so next time that’s on our must try list.
The Milkshakes
The new range of smoothies are fruit-packed, flavour-loaded, and are reasonably priced. Equally, there are a couple of exciting milkshakes on the new summer menu, you can choose between Chocolate or Strawberry. Moreover, whether you’re chasing a tropical escape, craving something green, or just in it for the berries, these smoothies and shakes are blended to hit different: no syrups, no fillers, no nonsense. Just the good stuff, done right!
There are also a few more from the new range, including Tropical Fruit Smoothie, Mango & Greens Smoothie, and Blueberry Flax Smoothie.
The Acai Bowls
As mentioned previously we ordered a couple of Acai bowls, which we enjoyed along with the new smoothies. As you can imagine, we were absolutely stuffed after having a smoothie and Acai bowl each. Packed with granola, fruit, acai sorbet, and toppings the Acai Bowls are another level delicious.
Firstly, the smoothies are priced between £4.99 and £6.29 each, and the Blend Shots are priced between £0.99 and £1.39 each. Secondly, Acai Bowls are priced between £8.59 and £9.59 with extras priced on top. Thirdly, all milkshakes are priced at £4.99 each.
