Last of the summer wine: Whites, rose and sparkling wines worthy of your time

Summer may well be on its way out, but there’s still a few weeks to hold on to the dream. And, what better way to do so than with some of this year’s hottest new wine releases. From fine sparkling English wine to budget-friendly Aussie Chardonnay, we’ve curated a list of wines that are well worth seeking out.

Hattingley Valley Classic Reserve English Sparkling Wine

Hattingley Valley has been producing exceptionally good English wine since 2008, fast becoming one of the UK’s hottest eco-friendly vineyards. To celebrate this years Olympics, they released a limited edition Team GB bottle of their bestselling Classic Reserve.

This premium pale gold sparkling wine is defined by its delicate bubbles, aromas of green apple, creamy nougat and freshly baked brioche with notes of lemon sherbet. Bursting with character and finesse, it’s the perfect way to toast what has been a fantastic year for our Olympians.

Still available whilst the limited stocks last, you can pick this special wine up for £30, with £2.50 from every purchase going towards Team GB.

Litmus Orange Bacchus 2019

Good orange wines are hard to come by, and truly great ones even more so. Orange Bacchus from the Litmus collection is one such rare find, produced by Denebies in Dorking, Surrey. The wine itself is a beautiful pale orange colour and gives an instant fresh burst of tangerine and citrus, with a touch of creamy peach.

Incredibly quaffable, it’s one to share with friends who like to discover new wines and pairs brilliantly with spicy Thai food. We enjoyed our bottle with Tom Yum soup and Red Thai Curry Prawns by chance, and it was a match made in heaven. Grab a bottle from English Wine specialists Corkk from as little as £15. You won’t regret it.

Sea Change Provence Rosé

Provence Rosé is all the rage at the moment, and Sea Change have exceeded themselves with their version which currently boasts a whopping 4.3 Vivino rating. Packed with zesty grapefruit, white peach and tropical fruit flavours, this sublimely satisfying rosé knocks spots of pricier wines from the Côte D’Azur region and marries well with seafood and summer salads.

Sea Change are just as committed to preserving our oceans as producing great wines too and donate to maritime charities with every bottle sold. Brought to you by the award-winning Château Pigoudet team, you can pick up a standard bottle for £16.99 or a magnum for £35.99

Clean, crisp with apple, tropical fruit and citrus, this wonderful Chardonnay includes a touch of Semillon to create a quality wine that far exceeds its moderate price tag. This Decanter World Wine Awards winner is available from Co-Op for just £5.50 a bottle.
