field&flower summer BBQ Boxes: Don’t fire up the grill without one

Summer 2021 might not have been the scorcher we’d hoped for, but the newfound freedom enjoyed after the Game of Thrones-style winter we went through has more than made up for it.

To help us celebrate those long overdue family gatherings, missed birthdays and celebrations in style, the award-winning online butcher field&flower recently launched a stunning collection of BBQ boxes

Packed with an assortment of goodies from their exceptionally good collection of meat, fish and deli favourites, there’s a box to suit any occasion. field&flower only invests in small-scale traditional farmers and fishermen who put sustainability and animal welfare on top of their priority list, supplying great tasting free-range meat and sustainable fish.

Their new BBQ boxes range is all reasonably priced, ranging from £26-£100 and include everything from Mini-Burger Sliders to Lamb Kofte and Spicy Cider Chorizo Pokers with Vintage Cheddar. We went for the Steak & Sauces Box (£59.75), which is designed to delight even the most discerning of carnivores.

First up came the bestselling Rib-Eye Steaks, which sell like hotcakes for a reason. They’re incredible. Sourced from Somerset, these heavily marbled grass-fed beauties are so juicy and flavoursome, all they need is a little butter, salt and pepper to make them shine.

We enjoyed ours with parmesan French fries, lobster tail, broccoli, and a large glass of Kaiken Estate Malbec, which ended up being the kind of meal that held its own against the best of restaurants. The Rump Steaks too are a cut above, with the kind of succulence and depth of flavour you’d expect from a Great Taste Award-winning product.

I paired them with homemade sweet potato wedges, and greens as a mid-week treat that went down a storm. Cooked for just 2 minutes on each side, these rumps taste great medium rare, which is not usually the case with this particular cut.

The box also contains four free range Skin-On Chicken Breasts, which are divine when smothered in Tubby Toms Mother Clucker chicken seasoning (also in the box). Plated up with buttered corn on the cob and fries, you really can taste the difference with these succulent, slow-grown free range breasts.

A dollop of Tubby Toms Smokey Schweet Original BBQ Sauce on the side sealed the deal; a cracking condiment with a unique hickory wood smokiness. Another highlight from the box are the boneless Lamb Leg Steaks, which are versatile enough to be pan-fried, griddled or grilled.

Fried with butter and a sprig of rosemary, this melt-in-the-mouth cut was simply perfection served with creamy mash and peas. The Steaks and Sauces Box also contains Pork Loin and Gammon Steaks, which we can’t wait to try.

With endless meat options, as well as fish ranging from Monkfish (my personal favourite) to Devonshire Crab, you can bet we’ll be back to try out some more of this splendid range. A solid thumbs up from us, and a high recommendation to anyone that appreciates better quality, free-range produce that you simply can’t buy in the shops.
