As the festive season unfolds, it’s a special time to catch up with friends and loved ones for a meal or drinks together. This season, starting on the first day of December.
The Devonshire Arms and The Fell Hotel have a choice of festive dining and afternoon tea menus to suit all tastes.


FESTIVE DINING MENU AT THE BRASSERIE (2 or 3-course set menu – £37.50/£47.50)
The kitchen team has created a delicious festive menu in The Brasserie to celebrate the festive season, running alongside our regular seasonal menu. With a choice of a two or three-course set menus, diners can enjoy the inviting ambience here with open views over the Dales.


The festive menu includes starters such as celeriac and apple soup, or candied fennel with Boilie goats’ cheese, walnuts and endive. Mains are a wonderful selection such as pheasant breast served with gnocchi, wild mushroom, and blackberries or roast turkey parcel with all the trimmings. Followed by Christmas pudding for traditionalists, or a yule log with boozy cherries.

Serves from 12 noon until 2.30pm for lunch Monday-Saturday; and 12 noon until 3pm on Sundays

FESTIVE MENU AT THE FELL

At The Fell, guests can take in wide ranging views from the restaurant’s picture windows, before tucking into traditional Christmas dishes, prepared with fresh seasonal ingredients from the surrounding land and local producers.
With a choice of two or three courses, enjoy traditional favourites such as prawn cocktail, chicken liver parfait or honey parsnip soup to start, with mains roast turkey with all the trimmings, glazed ham with bubble and squeak, glazed root vegetables, or brie and chutney filo parcel, accompanied by roast new potatoes and glazed root vegetables. Christmas pudding, sticky toffee pudding, or selection of cheeses completes the lunch selection.

FESTIVE AFTERNOON TEA WITH SPARKLING OPTIONS

Festive Afternoon tea is an elegant occasion at The Devonshire Arms, with an array of delicate sandwiches and savouries, with a festive flavour such as roast turkey and sage and onion stuffing fingers sandwiches and North Sea crab and crayfish rolls, served with freshly baked scones, alongside sweets treats and patisserie, including white chocolate and cranberry macaron, and Clementine Meringue Pie.
A range of teas including fruit and herbal infusions and a wide selection of green and black teas are on offer. A menu of champagnes adds a festive sparkle to the occasion, choose from Rosé, Classic Cuvées or Prosecco Superiore.

The Fell has given its popular afternoon tea a festive twist, with a selection of homemade sandwiches including roast turkey and cranberry, and pigs in blankets among the savouries, with smoked salmon and dill cream cheese blinis, accompanied with gingerbread scone and cinnamon butter and Christmas cake, served with local Wensleydale cheese.

NEW YEAR’S EVE DINNER & FIREWORKS AT THE BRASSERIE


Some tickets remain for New Year’s Eve at The Brasserie. A celebratory festive dining meal featuring top-class produce such as King Scallops and Beef Wellington, made with locally-sourced 28-day dry aged beef, followed by a Salted Caramel Tart served with praline macaroon, completes the three-course set menu for this special evening of celebrations. At midnight fireworks will round off the year and welcome in the new year of 2026! Tickets are priced at £140 per person.
‘POP UP’ CHRISTMAS SHOPPING MARKETS THESE COMING WEEKENDS:
Returning this year are the festive markets at The Devonshire Arms. Not only an atmospheric and fun way to tick off the Christmas shopping list, but a great support for local businesses too. A carefully curated collection of stallholders, offer locally crafted, homemade and artisan products, making for unique gifts, a choice of seasonal treats and thoughtful treasures, will make the festive shopping a joy this year. For three consecutive weekends, commencing the last weekend in November, and into mid-December.

Christmas goods to decorate your home and treat yourself, include hand-poured aromatic candles, festive wreaths, cakes and bakes, toiletries and culinary gifts from Dales-based producers and retailers including Lucy’s Craft room, From the Source, Hart Body & Soul and Snug Aromatics.
There is live entertainment too, to ensure an uplifting and seasonal vibe for the weekend gatherings which run from the last weekend in November through to mid-December. Hot snacks available include pulled pork baps with stuffing and apple sauce, homemade Yorkshire pies. The outdoor drinks bar’s offerings include mulled wine, hot spiced cider, winter cocktails and hot chocolate for plenty of hand-warming, festive cheer.
