Sometimes you want to dine out somewhere that isn’t fussy or faffy, that is priced reasonably, with tasty food and really good service. Let us introduce you to The Carousel in Scarborough. This is a Brewers Fayre restaurant, owned by Whitbred and enjoyed by many, including H&N Magazine.
Brewers Fayre recently launched new dishes to their extensive menu. We sent our foodie writer, Rachel McAlley along with her family to Scarborough’s The Carousel.

From traditional pub classics to comforting curries and great grills, Brewers Fayre’s new dishes ensure everyone’s favourites are all in one place. Perfect for picky bits lovers and the indecisive. New sharer plates like the Trio of Indian Nibbles; Crispy Prawns with sweet chilli mayo; Mac & Cheese Bites; and Chicken Wing Roulette with various heat levels, are a must-try.
The Menu at Brewers Fayre

Firstly, our table of 3 ordered the Garlic & Mushrooms, which were served with delicious BBQ sauce. We also opted for two portions of Chicken Wing Roulette for those with a flavour for heat!
Whilst for mains, guests can get a taste of the globe with dishes making their debut including the Spicy Korean Chicken Burger with chips and coleslaw. Alternatively, the Italian stone-baked Chicken Tikka Pizza; or for those looking for something lighter, the Lebanese Style Lamb Kofta served with flatbread may be for you. Equally, the BBQ Burrito Bowl served with your choice of BBQ rump or chicken breast are a perfect choice.
Secondly, we chose an 8oz Sirloin, which came with skin-on-chips, grilled tomato, beer-battered onion rings, and peas. Moreover, we ordered the new Spicy Korean Chicken Burger, with an Asian crunchy slaw, gherkin, tomato and Korean chilli sauce. This burger also arrived with skin-on-chips, and coleslaw. Our final main was the Burrito Bowl with BBQ Seasoned Chicken Breast. The burrito dish came with smoky chipotle and lime rice, tortilla chips, cherry tomatoes, shredded lettuce, reduced-fat soured cream, tomato salsa and coriander.
Desserts For Everyone

For extra hungry tums, new retro-inspired summer sundaes like Rhubarb & Custard Sundae or Peach & Raspberry Melba Sundae are on the menu. Furthermore, the Mini Doughnuts with a choice of dipping sauces will ensure a sweet end to every visit.
Thirdly, the desserts that were chosen included the Ice Cream Sundae with Cadbury Dairy Milk Caramel Nibbles, and the Triple Chocolate Brownie. And, from the kids’ menu the Pip Organic Rainbow Fruity Ice Lolly. Both the sundae and the brownie could easily have been shared as they were both big servings!
