Bridal Luncheon in a Bubble at Seaham Hall This Summer

From the US to the UK, this trend is set to make wedding waves this summer. The luxury experience in the hotel’s new glass Dining Pods in the gardens is a truly unique way to celebrate ahead of the big day

Wedding season is in full swing and a new Afternoon Tea Pod Experience at Seaham Hall on Durham’s heritage coastline is perfectly suited to sophisticated brides-to-be seeking a stylish bridal luncheon or bridal shower. Feminine and low-key Bridal Luncheons have been gaining popularity across the pond and this new trend is an opportunity for the bride to thank her bridesmaids and bridal party.

The private dining domes, situated in the five-star hotel’s glorious gardens, create a magical atmosphere to indulge in a luxury afternoon tea, dine on dainty sandwiches, sweet and savoury treats, cakes, pastries and scones, while sipping shimmering rosé Taittinger Champagne. Free-flowing tea and coffee will, of course, be served.

The blissful bubbles are the perfect place to gather the bridesmaids and other leading ladies to toast the bride-to-be, creating memories to last a lifetime. While savouring the selection of delicious light bites, served on an impressive three-tiered cake stand, play the bride-to-be’s favourite tunes on a personal playlist through the bubble’s Bluetooth speakers.

With ultimate privacy, the bubbles can seat up to eight guests.

Stylish brides-to-be will be delighted to make like Her Majesty, who is renowned for enjoying afternoon tea at Buckingham Palace, her royal residences and wherever she is in the world. The Queen is particularly partial to scones with jam and clotted cream – and, according to former royal chef Darren McGrady, she puts jam on first.

Perfect for an afternoon of indulgence, Seaham Hall has a rich, rather romantic and, at times, rebellious heritage. Steeped in over 200 years of history, the immaculately-restored Georgian country house sits in a striking clifftop position, just steps from the beach and the England Coast Path.

Seaham Hall was built in 1791 by Sir Ralph Milbanke, whose daughter married flamboyant poet Lord Byron in the drawing room in 1815. The Georgian house’s eventful past also includes becoming a military hospital during WW1 and playing a key role in the US Prohibition, by bottling Spey whisky and smuggling it to America via a tunnel to Seaham Harbour that’s still visible to this day in Seaham Hall’s wine cellar.

THE EXPERIENCE costs £295 total/ £74 pp (four sharing) including a luxury afternoon tea served with rosé Taittinger Champagne, tea and coffee in a new glass Dining Pod in the hotel’s glorious grounds and a complimentary Temple Spa Relaxation kit for the bride-to-be, featuring travel-sized products such as Repose Aromatherapy Relaxing Night Cream and Quietude Sleep Well Mist.

Make an Afternoon Tea Pod Experience even more memorable with an overnight stay at Seaham Hall. One night in a Junior Suite (two sharing) costs from £295 total, including a full English breakfast and full use of the five-bubble rated spa facilities from 12 noon on your day of arrival until 12 noon on your day of departure.
