A menu with cheese in most dishes? I had to check out Obicà Mozzarella Bar!
This casual, Italian restaurant concept is to use the best Mozzarella di Bufala Campana DOP to its full potential and it was buzzing with hungry diners on a Wednesday evening.
Now Obicà in the dialect of Napoli translates to ‘right before your eyes’. Quite fitting as the restaurants open space meant that sitting on a high up table by the window, I was able to scan the whole restaurant and see what others were ordering, as well as keeping a watchful eye on the pizza station where all the baked goods were being lovingly made to order.
The restaurants decor itself is contemporary but comfortable which is the case across all their venues, internationally too, as there is nothing worse than sitting in a space which doesn’t feel inviting.
With some expert help from the staff, we listened to their recommendations of the best new summer dishes to try. Plus, we got through a few of their Saggio cocktail which is a refreshing and well-balanced mix of Vodka, pineapple juice, citrus mix and syrup. It was like drinking the essence of a holiday!

Being a self-proclaimed foodie, I obviously had to order the Mozzarella experience to start off with!
This is a platter offering a great selection with a choice of two mozzarellas (we went for smoked and a burrata), salami, basil pesto, Sicilian aubergine caponata, red pepper hummus, prosciutto, bread and bruschetta with tomato. I love trying a bit of everything and it was the ideal way to start. The burrata was creamy and smothered all over the bread, it was heavenly!

We HAD to try a pizza as the smell was wonderful. I recommend the Nduja pizza with Organic Tomato, Stracciatella, Basil Grana Padano DOP. The dough was light and with the addition of some chilli oil, it burst with flavour. Other summery dishes tried were the fresh tortellini with a small burrata and a colourful Quinoa salad. The tortellini (and all other pasta used) is made by local producers, was light, cooked perfectly and complimented by the basil sauce.
The menu has lots of choices for the usual starters, mains and desserts however, you can also opt for a selection of small plates if you wish to share dishes, adding a mozzarella or four to the order!
Italian restaurant Obicà is highly recommended!
