The Korean BBQ style of dining has swept across London in recent years. The Korean Grill Kensington brings this unique culinary experience, with an upscale twist to West London.
This Korean restaurant, part of the Millenium Hotel is just a two minute walk from Gloucester Road tube station and is beautifully serene and demure. Elegant woven wallpaper with imagery of stalks and simple, statement black wood sets the scene for the fiery dramatics that await.
This experience is for foodies who love to try new flavours. The array of seasonings, sauces and vegetable sides that accompanied the many hot and cold starters and mixed grill was incredible. This style of food is a feast for the senses and presented so beautifully that it piques your curiosity.
The Chef’s Menu, available for £65pp is a great option, if like me, you love Korean food but may get a bit lost after Gochujang Chicken. Our server was so sweet, knowledgeable and expertly guided us through the plethora of dishes on offer.
We started the experience with some Soju, a sweet, rice wine popular in Korea. Despite it pairing well with the food it was a little sweet for my taste. The restaurant has a great wine list, and you can upgrade your experience with a Soju or Wine Pairing option.
We enjoyed a variety of hot and cold starters including, a meaty, clear broth, spicy cold noodles, glass noodles, deep friend prawn and vegetable pancake and a yuzu salad. This feast was served with different vegetables and sauces so that you could create your own dishes. It really struck me how versatile and healthy this kind of eating is.
For the main course ‘event’ the Chef’s Menu includes a platter of meat cuts and prawns. There were different cuts of steak which are cooked to your preference at the table. It’s a theatrical affair with flames and excitement. The BBQ meats are served with a side of rice and lettuce leaves that you can make into tasty wraps with all the accompaniments.
This is such a great way to explore new flavour profiles in a healthy and chic way. It would be the perfect date night for a foodie or experience for an anniversary. It is just that little bit different and certainly a meal that provokes the conversation.
There is also an a la carte menu available and for those that like to roll up their sleeves you are also able to cook the meat yourself if you prefer.
A fabulous take on the Korean BBQ trend sweeping the capital. Take a look HERE.
