When it comes to your business, you deserve to be able to get back to as normal as possible without the worry about the pandemic releasing in your business premises. Of course, we’re all doing what we can to live with the virus that’s stretching around the world.
As a business leader, you’ll be itching to get your business back to some semblance of normal. However, for that to happen, it’s up to you to ensure that your business is as COVID-safe as possible.
You have a long list of things that you can do to make your employees feel safe to come back into the workplace, from choosing to put social distancing precautions in place with dividers, to offering hand sanitising stations at every doorway. You are going to have a lot to get through to ensure that the people in your business are feeling safe to get to work everyday. So, how can you make your business a COVID-safe place to be?
- Be proactive about your actions. You want to respond well to the pandemic, and the best way to do it is to get on board with how you can be better. Responding to the pandemic and looking after your employees is your responsibility, and the only way you’re going to be responsible is if you are showing your stakeholders and your customers that you are the sort of manager who cares.
- Put yourself as part of the solution. You want to make sure that you are doing your best for your wider community, not just your initial staff. If you are the business with the social distancing, sanitising and mask requirements, others in your building may start to follow suit – which is exactly what you want!
- Protect your employees. Your customers are so important, but you can’t keep impressing them without looking after the people coming into the office to work for you. You must make sure that you are putting your employees in the right position, and that you will support them if they refuse entry to the maskless. Be sure to communicate the steps you’re taking to be a safe employer and safeguard your employee health at the same time.
- Add training. From social distancing to good training, you must ensure that you are practicing great hygiene in your office building. Training your employees to do the same is going to ensure that you reduce the COVID-19 spread. It also ensures that you can stay open for longer. Practicing what you preach is vital!
- Give your employees your confidence. When you’re putting your workplace back together, you need to think about how your employees are going to respond to you. They will respect you more if you put them first and you ensure you have invested correctly in the right hygiene measures. Take the time to ensure that everyone is on board with what comes next for businesses in this new climate. Don’t be the employer that remains arrogant.
