Family Fun At Yorkshire Race Courses

A day of family fun at four Yorkshire Race Courses this summer, and a great chance to see the horses up close. Why not visit your nearest Yorkshire Race Course and do something different!

Yorkshire has over 50 fixtures this summer including a number of dedicated Family Days where under 18s race free across four racecourses. There will be plenty of entertainment in addition to the thrilling action on the track, as well as the opportunity to get up close and see the magnificent racehorses first hand.


There is always a great array of food and drink options on offer at each Yorkshire race course. Equally, visitors can take a picnic so the whole family can enjoy an affordable day out in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Thee’s loads of family fun at Yorkshire race courses!

Jam-packed with family fun, the Family Days across Yorkshire have something for everyone. As well as watching the incredible sporting action, every member of the family can get involved with a range of activities. Moreover, it’s all included within the ticket price.

On Sunday 14th August Pontefract Racecourse hosts ‘In The Zone’ Family Day, featuring a parade of retired-racehorses. Adult tickets start from £7.

Thirsk Racecourse Family Day is taking place on Friday 26th August and there will be plenty of entertainment for all the family. Two adults accompanying a child can get a family ticket for £20.

Bank Holiday Monday 29th August sees Family Day at Ripon Racecourse, where there will be inflatables, face painting, and a magic show. Adult tickets start from £7.

Equally, Catterick Bridge Racecourse has a Family Day taking place on Monday 15th August. Adult tickets start at £5 and there will be a host of free activity, including a boot camp challenge, and nine-hole crazy golf course.

Furthermore, to showcase summer racing fixtures and the amazing entertainment on offer, Great British Racing has teamed up with TV presenter and former football star, Jermaine Jenas as part of the Everyone’s Turf campaign.

Firstly, Jenas who has attended a number of racing fixtures said, “Nothing beats taking your family to see live sport and a day at the races is unique. Moreover, with the chance to see the horses and jockeys up close, be it at the parade ring or cheering them on at the finish line.

“All the racecourses make a real effort to make their race days special and memorable by putting on activities for children to enjoy between racing too and with under 18s going racing for free at all racecourses. It’s a no brainer when planning a family day out in the summer holidays.”

Secondly, Jenas continued, “I am really excited to be part of Everyone’s Turf. The sporting action is second to none and the range of raceway experiences on offer is setting the benchmark for days out this summer.”
