Devonshire’s Festive Treats in the Heart of the Yorkshire Dales

The Devonshire Arms Hotel & Spa has some tempting offerings for foodies and shoppers throughout the month of December. Whether it’s a seasonal catch up such as lunch or afternoon tea with friends and family, or enjoying a winter’s day out at a festive market in this wonderful pocket of the Yorkshire Dales, there’s a tasty treat in store to celebrate the festive season.

Why not while away a couple of hours, chatting with a friend enjoying their elegant festive afternoon tea? Served in the hotel’s botanic-themed Garden Room restaurant, overlooking the Italianate courtyard garden, this is a lovely opportunity for a winter’s afternoon.

An array of delectable sandwiches and savouries are beautifully presented with sweet treats, a classic favourite enjoying a festive twist and you may also wish to splash out on a celebratory glass of sparkling Champagne – after all, it is Christmas!

Meanwhile the cosy, colourful Brasserie restaurant has mouth-watering and imaginative winter seasonal fayre to enjoy with a Festive menu, available until 23rd December.

Starters include a delicious broccoli and stilton soup, or goat’s cheese, fig and onion tart, or salmon served with pickled kohlrabi, lemongrass and ginger to get the taste buds tantalized.

‘Star-of-the-show’ when it comes to mains, has to be the roast turkey parcel with all the trimmings, followed by Christmas pud with a rich rum butter sauce, or a mulled trifle with parkin biscuit and clementine.  Choose from other seasonal temptations, such as duck breast with potatoes Dauphinoise, or salmon served with Jerusalem artichoke, sticky onion marmalade, toasted almonds and sprout leaves or a chestnut and wild mushroom pithivier.

The festive markets pop-up event invites you to shop in a wonderfully atmospheric setting for delightful Christmas treats for your gift list, to decorate your home and treat yourself, including home dipped candles, festive wreaths, ceramics, hand-crafted jewellery and culinary gifts from local suppliers such as Woolly Sheep Candles, Kushboo, The Ginger Pot Creations, Wildflowers, Rooks and Roses, Snug Aromatics and Riva and Bea. There will also be an outdoor drinks bar with warming beverages, including mulled wine and hot chocolate alongside delicious seasonal snacks to enjoy.  and add to the fun of this event. 

Don’t forget also that a visit to The Dev over the advent period can be planned to coincide with our pop-up Christmas market, running until the weekend of 14th/15th December – showcasing festive goods, gifts and produce from an array of carefully curated artisan suppliers, most of whom are local to the Dales.

Brasserie Festive Menu – Two courses £35 and Three courses £44; with children’s two courses at £15.

Served from 12 noon – 2.30pm daily (until 3pm Sundays); and in the evening daily, 5.30-9pm and between 6pm – 9pm on Sundays.

Festive Afternoon Tea – £39.50 per person, served daily 1pm – 3pm until 24th December

Champagne Festive Afternoon Tea – £49.50.

New Year’s Eve at The Brasserie – A select dining occasion with Artelium English sparkling wine reception served with canapés, four course seasonal menu, featuring scallops with crispy prosciutto and fillet of beef with a chestnut crumb followed by petit fours and hot drinks. Welcome in the New Year, with fireworks at midnight  and a resident DJ playing in the new year tunes – £135 per adult.  Early booking is advised.
