Hungry for an Inspired Timepiece?

The Camden Watch Company Collaborate with Celebrated Award-Winning Chef Tom Brown on New Chef Edition Watch.

British independent designers Anneke Short and Jerome Robert, founders of The Camden Watch Company, have just released a new timepiece in collaboration with multi award-winning chef Tom Brown.

Known for their Victorian-inspired timepieces, The Camden Watch Company have collaborated with other British personalities in the past for unique inspired timepieces such as tattoo artist Rebecca Vincent, cyclist Kitty Pemberton Platt, barber Frank Rimer, and The Chap magazine.

The new collaboration with Tom Brown, Founder and Chef of The Pearly Queen based in Shoreditch London, came about by a love of food.  Tom is a renowned British chef known for his creative, seafood-focused dishes.  A former protégé of Nathan Outlaw, Tom emphasises simplicity and natural flavours, which earned him acclaim on Great British Menu and solidified his status as one of the UK’s top young chefs.

Anneke Short, Co-Founder of The Camden Watch Company says: “Jerome and I are really into our food, we love discovering new types of cuisine and exciting new restaurants. We had been big fans of Tom since seeing him on the Great British Menu and then going to his restaurant.  As luck would have it, Tom and ourselves have a friend in common, so chatted a bit on socials.  We then bumped into him at an event where we met him for the first time in person, mentioned the idea of a collaboration and here we are.”

Chef Tom Brown says:  “Cooking, particularly in a professional kitchen, is all about precise timings. The time each ingredient takes to prep, cook, and plate hinges on a solid understanding of each step, so working on this project with Camden Watch Company felt like the perfect collaboration. I’m thrilled with how it turned out.”

The Camden Watch Company No.88 The Chef Edition

The timepiece is inspired by the world of professional cooking and Tom’s love of all things seafood. The numbers on the two-layer Mother of Pearl (like those found inside oyster shells) dial are inspired by those found in a kitchen, on vintage weighing scales, thermometers and various gauges. It features a subtle, abstract wave pattern sitting at the centre. It can be put on a leather strap for a smart finish or dressed down with a more robust nylon strap, perfect for working in the kitchen.

The watch is unisex and features a 39mm case and domed lens and retails for £149 on the leather strap and £145 on the nylon NATO strap.  Can also be purchased as a  offering for £169 (kit includes both the leather and NATO straps).

While the watch is available online and in-store at The Camden Watch Company, it is also available to purchase at The Pearly Queen Restaurant.

Fun fact:  Jerome Robert, Co-Founder of The Camden Watch Company, actually started out as an apprentice chef back in the day before realising that the stress of the kitchen was not his vibe and found his true passion in watchmaking.
