Bridgerton Fashion Revealed as Most Popular UK Fashion Trend in 2022

Research commissioned by Fenwick reveals a 186.92% increase in online demand for regency fashion over the past year, based on an analysis of recent UK online search trends. Since December ‘21 and in the run up to the second season of Bridgerton, there has been a big spike in online searches for regency dresses (+175%).

With the popularity of regency fashion search terms almost tripling since the beginning of 2022 (+194.80%), the research reveals Brits are ready to fully embrace the so-called “regency core” trend with all its ruffles, colours, and opulent textures of Bridgerton Fashion.

Whether you’re out to find love, on the search for gossip or just want to look your best with a subtle 19th century hint of class then this trend is for you. Not limited to empire waist gowns and tight corsets, regency core is what you make of it. A pearl clutch, a headband or a pair of dainty shoes can add a bit of regency to any contemporary look.

With style icons such as Penelope Bridgerton who loves a bold colour, Kate Sharma in her deep blue gown and the Featherington family who have a particular obsession with prints – these are all styles that bring smiles to viewers faces through the use of rich and detailed 19th century style fashion – you could almost call it dopamine dressing.

Data shows dopamine dressing is the fastest growing trend in the UK

In addition to the rise in regency fashion – the study also reveals a massive increase in the popularity of dopamine dressing; dressing in fabrics, colours and textures that bring you joy.

Whether through a particular colour, through evoking memory or just because it feels lush – dopamine dressing isn’t only flashy colours but very much up to the individual to play with to find their ‘dopamine style’.

With searches up a mahoosive 2.000% since March 2021, dopamine dressing is the fastest growing fashion trend in the UK and it’s here to stay.

As spring rolls on and with wedding season just around the corner, now is the perfect time to accessorise your outfits with some vibrant colours that make you feel good.

Y2K popularity in decline – is this the true end of baby tops?

An otherwise big fashion hit, Y2K, has seen a slight decline in average monthly searches in the previous year (-1.19% per month), and an overall significant decrease in popularity (-16%) making way for other trends such as regency fashion which are growing fast.

Although still very popular, time will tell how long baby tops, baguette bags and bras as tops will steer the UK fashion industry.
