Leeds based Thorpe Park Hotel and Spa, part of the Daniel Thwaites group, has unveiled the brand-new gym for 2023. Designed to ‘bring the outdoors in’. Scientific studies have shown that ‘green exercise’ can improve self-esteem and mood, as well as reducing anxiety disorders and depression*.
Due to the popularity of the new launch and to ensure each guest can comfortably use all the equipment during their session, Thorpe Park Hotel has opened a waiting list for new members to their boutique gym.
Opened to members and hotel residents on Wednesday 25th January, the new space was designed by renowned local Leeds Interior Designer Rachel Wootton, who has 15-years’ experience specialising in Hotel and Inn interiors. The refurbishment has a clean, green, modern look, with a planted aesthetic for a calming feel. This includes an upgraded refreshments counter, state-of-the-art equipment from Life Fitness and ambient LED lights. Incorporating elements of nature was integral to building the atmosphere of the gym, combining the feeling of wellbeing that can be found from working-out outdoors, with access to excellent facilities.

Shaun Levitt, Head of Guest Experience at Thorpe Park Hotel and Spa said on the new opening “The newly refurbished gym is a state-of-the-art project. It has given the personal trainers and fitness instructors an innovative and stylish area to apply their trade and help our members and guests alike to get the most from Thorpe Park. The equipment is beyond that of your usual hotel gym and rivals the variety you see in a commercial gym. We can be very proud of our gym offering now at Thorpe Park”
On a mission to raise the bar with the wellbeing offering across all Daniel Thwaites properties, and understanding fitness is a large part of this, Gemma Barratt, Spa Director for the Daniel Thwaites group states; “What a transformation! Our gym offering is now top class and one of which we are all proud of, we have created a wellbeing space that is not only fully kitted out & functional but a space where you can prepare the mind before every workout. Rachel Wootton, our interior designer on this project, truly listened and brought to life the outstanding design to support mind health and Gemma Ramal, from Life Fitness ensured we had all the kit required to maximise body health – a perfect combination.”

With the opening of the new boutique gym, January saw a phenomenal demand for memberships at Thorpe Park Hotel and Spa. Therefore, the team created a waiting list for those interested, to ensure the new space is not overcrowded and customer experience is not sacrificed. For those interested in signing up, guests are encouraged to enquire and they will be given a tour of the new space as well as given further information on the memberships, as well as the personal training services.
