We were invited to visit Titanic Spa in Huddersfield recently, for a day at the spa and an evening in one of their luxury apartments.
Titanic Spa isn’t a normal spa, as this multi-award-winning destination is all about looking after the environment as well as the guests. In 2005 when Titanic Spa opened is was leading the way in Eco builds. With renewable energy generated through solar photovoltaic roof panels, which converts light directly into electricity.
The Building

The building itself is an old Edwardian textile mill, meaning that the windows weren’t very practical at keeping the cold out. By adding Low U value windows to Titanic Spa means that each window virtually eliminates all draughts. They also help with thermal mass, meaning the spa doesn’t overheat in the summer months.
The water at Titanic Spa comes from their own natural water source, found 100m below the spa. This water source now provides instant fresh drinking water, plus water for the plunge pool, showers, ice experience rooms, and the salt regulated swimming pool.
Onsite there is also an OTEX laundry system, which leads in efficiency by washing all the in-house towels in cool water. It delivers oxonated water, leaving the towels and linen completely disinfected.
There is so much to write about from an eco-friendly perspective we could shout about Titanic Spa for hours, but let’s walk you though the spa itself now.
Titanic Spa

From checking in at the reception desk guests and visitors are show around the spa by a member of the team. Firstly the restaurant is open all day and all evening for food and drink. Secondly the pool, outside hot tub, sauna and steam room is located through the restaurant. Thirdly the heat and ice experiences along with the changing rooms are at the opposite end of the restaurant and down a short corridor. This side of Titanic spa also showcases all the private treatment rooms and the relaxation lounge.
The heat and ice experience offers 9 different rooms and activities, which are included for day spa visitors and overnight guests. Visitors will find an herbal infusion room, saunarium, aromatherapy room, crystal steam bath and sauna cabin. Equally visitors can use the foot baths, ice room, plunge pool, and experience showers. The Rasual Chamber (added extra) can also be found inside the heat and ice experience.
If relaxation is at the core of a visitors experience then the relaxation room will easily suffice. Featuring large snooze bean bags, relaxation beds, sunken bean bag pit, crackling fire, and dimmed lighting. The perfect room for an afternoon nap!
Back to poolside and guests will find comfortable loungers next to the heated 15m swimming pool. A time will need to be booked prior to entering the hot tub so that guests have their own private experience (no extra charge for this).
Food

Anyone can visit the restaurant, as it is open for brunch, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner. Bookings are advisable though as it does get extremely busy. The staff are always on hand to offer menu advice, and the set lunch menu is a treat, as is the dinner menu. Guests enjoying a day spa will receive a 1-course light lunch, and those staying over also choose a 2-course dinner.
Treatments and Retail Shop

Guests can book some wonderful treatments like the Elemis Deeper Than Deep Hot Stone Massage (55 minutes, priced at £104). This amazing full body experience uses Balinese stones bathed in Frangipani Monoi Body Oil and works deep into the muscles.
