Are you looking for instant hair gratification?
Thinning hair is not just for men! In fact, over 55% of women will experience thinning hair by the age of 70 and from the conversations that I have been having with my peer group, this problem starts far sooner. Put it this way, I am not the only one with a hoover and shower full of hair and an ever depleting pony tail. Keeping a great hairstyle is hard!
It is really difficult to get to the root cause of thinning hair as there are so many potential contributing factors. Hormones, stress and the maintenance of the hair all have a role to play. I decided to consult with two top London hair salons to see how we could get my hair looking its best again.

Neville Hair and Beauty are based in Belgravia. After a detailed hair consultation with Max, one of their senior colourists, we decided to go with a warm, golden colour palette to flatter my skin tone. Due to some previous dalliances with purple hair-dye he set about a colour correction and balayage to bring my hair colour back to life.
This technique gave the hair way more dimension and texture and it instantly looked thicker and bouncier despite me not having it cut into a new hairstyle. If I could have Max live with me and style it that way every day, I would have been happy. Alas, I knew I needed some extra volume to help me achieve my dream hair.

Neville Hair and Beauty has a lovely community yet professional feel to the salon. They did an amazing job and if you are looking for a big change of look, or for complex colour needs, I would 100% recommend them.
Max was aware of my volume problem. Hence the reason we didn’t cut the hair in preparation for my visit to the leading experts in hair extensions Vixen and Blush.
Vixen and Blush are based in Rathbone Square just off Oxford Street. Their sole purpose is to create big, beautiful instantaneous hair looks. They have all the hair lengths and colours on site so you can arrive to your consultation and get fitted the very, same day.

Hannah talked me through the different types of hair extensions and it was decided that Bonds are the most secure for delicate, fine hair. They are also the most expensive to maintain as they can’t be pushed back up the hair shaft like micro rings can.

We discussed my thinning hair concerns as I really didn’t want this short term decision to make my problem worse. With the proper care, hair brush, shampoo, silk pillow case and low pony tails, there is no reason why they should thin the hair any more.
But in the meantime, just look at the difference. I have the hairstyle and big hair of my dreams!
