Heading towards Headmasters Wimbledon Village I’m cursing my limp locks. I have no idea how the stylist is going to create any volume with this flat and lank situation atop my head. I’ve given them a blow dry challenge for sure!
I’ll be seeing Marcelo, a veteran hair genius with over 30 years experience. My hopes are rising! I have been to this salon before, a long, long time ago when I lived in Southfields, so it’s great to see it still as popular and thriving as ever.
I’m told I’ll be treated to “The Wimbledon”, a big, bouncy blow out to create full volume and lift. I love that it has its own name, it makes it feel like a character I’m about to become. I can see me swishing my locks about on Murray Mount, drinking Pimms and just being fabulous.
Marcelo walks me to the wash basin where I’m treated to a glorious Kérastase wash, and hair loss preventing Nioxin treatment. I’m hearing great things about this hair brand so was excited to try it out. Also the added bonus of a massage chair whilst getting a deep hair wash was a dream and so relaxing.
The blow dry itself goes by in a whirl, I’m getting all the very best advice from Marcelo who expertly twists and pins my hair like he could do it in his sleep. We laugh about my addiction to being blonde and I tell him it’s worth the effort and money to keep it up. There is no way I could strut around with my own mousey tresses!
I’m thrilled that the big blowout is back in fashion! I love the look, and the bigger the better for me. In moments Marcelo has created huge, outrageous waves that my teenage self in the 90s would have killed for. Now in my mid 40s I’m noticing my hair thinning, yet you wouldn’t believe it seeing “The Wimbledon” come to life! I loved it!
Treat yourself this Summer to a fabulous blow dry by the ultimate experts. And if you don’t have actual Wimbledon tickets it doesn’t matter, you can rock this glamorous do anywhere!
