A few weeks ago, we introduced you to some of the team at Yorkshire College of Beauty and now it’s time to introduce you to some more of the specialists who make this award-winning beauty college so successful.
Yorkshire College of Beauty is a world-renowned centre of excellence, but it would not be so successful without this fantastic team of experts.
Here we go with Part Two.
Nicola Roberts – Level 3 Tutor and Internal Quality Assure

I trained at the Yorkshire College of Beauty graduating and winning the Most Promising Beauty Therapist Award in July 1986, something I am very proud of. I was offered a full-time position with Andre Bernard’s Hair and Beauty in Manchester as soon as I left the college based on the standard of training I received and of course my bubbly personality! I
In 1989 I decided to work for Steiner on the cruise ships and had an amazing six years. I then returned to the UK and set up Esporta Health & Fitness in Cookridge.
In 2003 I started teaching CIDESCO at the Yorkshire College of Beauty, passing on the knowledge and skills that I had developed over the years, then in 2005 after having my son I started to teach our apprentices.
I have done many different roles at the college since then and am currently the Internal Quality Assure for the level 3 learners as well as being the Subcontracting Manager for the college.
I love my job and the people I work with and although I have found my role at the college challenging, the reward is seeing the success of our learners.
Louise Contini – Level 3 Tutor

I graduated from the Yorkshire College of Beauty in 2006 after completing a two-year apprenticeship. I loved every minute of my training in college and also in my salon placement. I received a distinction for my training and the ‘Student of the Year’ award at graduation!
After a further three years in my salon, I decided to undertake my teaching degree and return to the Yorkshire College of Beauty, where I was very fortunate to quickly be offered a full-time teaching position, teaching level two students at the Training Academy.
I returned to the college part time after having my daughter in 2015 and have now been teaching for ten years specialising in level 3. My job is very rewarding and I love to see our students succeed and to know that we produce some of the best therapists in the industry!
Natalie Brotherton – Data Manager

I came to the Yorkshire College of Beauty from school at 16 and never left! I studied the two-year Apprenticeship course and upon graduating with a distinction and ‘Student of the Year’, I returned two months later to a teaching assistant role, where I shadowed all the tutors at the college, completed the assessor qualification and a teaching degree, while gaining as much classroom experience as possible.
Once I had completed my courses, I was made a teacher at the college, mainly teaching Level 3 learners.
I loved everything about teaching, helping our students to achieve their qualifications is the best job satisfaction anyone can have. While teaching at the college I also studied a BA (hons) in Business Studies, this has helped me to further my career at the college and gain my position as Data Manager, where I input and liaise with all staff within the college and be the link between the college, the awarding bodies and the Apprenticeship Service.
I have completed my Internal Quality Assurance qualification and Quality Assure and with all this and three gorgeous children, I am kept busy and my life is never boring!
Gladys Mazvita Sambo – Beauty Spa and Management Tutor

I am a passionate Zimbabwean Beauty and Spa educator with over 8 years of experience.
Beauty Therapy has always been part of my family and because of that I trained to become a CIDESCO qualified beauty therapist and Beauty and Spa Management graduate. I am also an ITEC certified makeup artist and certified VTCT Assessor.
I have trained students under various international boards namely CIDESCO, ITEC and VTCT and also recently worked as a Spa Manager and therapist in a large chain of spas. I am currently tutoring the Beauty and Spa Management program at Yorkshire College of Beauty.
I have a strong passion for beauty and wellness education with a lifelong goal and commitment to leave a legacy in the industry.
Kevin Baker – Fitness Training Manager

I am one of the Training Managers for the personal training courses we offer at YCOB. My role is to manage and deliver the personal training courses, ensuring awarding body standards are maintained, and learners receive an educational yet fun learning experience.
I have been a personal trainer myself for over 16 years, working in commercial gyms, private studios (I had one myself for 3 years!), as well as working in corporate health and wellbeing. I have been a fitness tutor for 11 years working for different training providers, delivering both the YMCA and Active IQ syllabus for Level 2 Gym Instructor, Level 3 Personal Trainer qualifications, as well as Level 3 Sports Massage and various other CPD short courses.
We hope you enjoyed meeting some of the team and getting more of an insight to the people behind the brand. Look out for the second instalment.
