Dr Raj told us, “We treat a wide range of medical aesthetic concerns, and our professional services include consultations for reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, dermal fillers, skin revitalisation, body contouring, skin lifting and tightening, chemical peels, collagen stimulating procedures and consultations for weight related conditions.”

That’s the tip of the iceberg, as there are so many approaches, procedures and treatments. In this feature we are focusing on fillers and asked Dr Raj the following questions. Let’s go.

What Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are a series of gels that can be injected into the face and body at various depths, depending on the outcome required. Fillers can be used on different layers depending on what the patient wants to achieve. Over time practitioners are getting better and better at ensuring filler behaves as closely to the way normal tissue behaves as possible.

Which Fillers Are Best?

We use Teoxane (which is currently used in over 80 countries worldwide) and Ellansé (which has been a leader in the market since its creation in 2009). There are many fillers available in the UK which do not have the same level of scientific testing, so we only use products with long-term follow ups and appropriate clinical trials, choosing the best for each individual patient.

Teoxane is a hyaluronic acid-based filler, Ellansé is collagen stimulating. Hyaluronic acid is found throughout the body in skin, joints, and eyes, and Teoxane have tried to make a molecule that is as similar as possible to what is normally found in the body. This is purified and hydrated, making it good for volume, structural support and contouring. Collagen-stimulating fillers are popular for those with mild sagging or collagen reduction and can be injected in various places. It is used to improve skin quality and texture, and to reduce sagginess.

What is Volume Loss?

In addition to the outer layer of your skin, there are unseen levels of your body including fat layers, muscles, ligaments and the bony skeleton. Due to the ageing process, these layers change, resulting in loss of volume which can lead to wrinkling, and this process cannot be stopped. However, dermal fillers can help improve the appearance of your skin, including the look of fine lines and wrinkles.

Why Teoxane?

TEOSYAL by Teoxane is a range of dermal filler products that have differing gel densities and unique properties, designed to specifically target different areas of the face and achieve excellent results.

Teoxane Laboratories was established in Geneva in 2003 and is well-known for applying industry-leading expertise and high-quality standards to all of their products. Teoxane is used in more than 80 countries worldwide and their TEOSYL dermal fillers are multi award-winning. All products are of 100% non-animal origin and consist of biodegradable hyaluronic acid that is highly biocompatible.
