Charcuterie and Wine Bar Now at The Garden Room

Inspired by European charcuterie and wine bar culture, combined with Yorkshire’s home-grown bounty, The Garden Room invites you to sample its brand-new dining concept, The Charcuterie & Wine Bar.

Introducing a more relaxed dining concept, the Garden Room’s new menu champions small plates, which celebrate vibrant flavours, seasonal fayre, exceptional wines and craft beers. Diners can create their own charcuterie grazing plate or share a platter. This is a new way to enjoy this much-loved Yorkshire Dales hotel.

Expect a variety of fresh produce, most of which is sourced locally, including items from the kitchen garden at The Devonshire Arms, as well as a small selection of artisan producers. You’ll find home-cured meats, cheeses from Courtyard Dairy, and fresh fish and seafood from the Yorkshire and North East coastlines. Specialist produce and accompaniments from the Continent complete the selection. The menu features small plates and platters, as well as snacks and classic light bites including homemade soups, salads, and sandwiches.

Guests can choose to dine in The Garden Room, lounge or bar area, or outdoors in the Italian Garden, to tailor their dining experience on the day.

Adam Harper, Executive Head Chef comments:

“Seasonal vibrancy, exciting flavour combinations and sensational wine and drinks pairings too, make this an exceptional experience. Inspired by the charcuteries of Europe, with the social ambience more akin to a wine bar, it’s a bold move towards something new here at The Devonshire Arms. Part of a new chapter in which we honour our links to the estate, the countryside and the wider environment too. We’re excited to embrace this change and in turn offer something new to our diners.”

The charcuterie selection includes Iberico ham, produced from acorn-fed pigs, 18 month cured Serrano Grand Reserve ham, Chorizo, with rustic Spanish character, locally-cured Yorkshire ham and Beef Bresaola, made with Bolton Abbey Estate air-dried beef, home cured with herbs and wine.

Cheeses are exclusively sourced from renowned local producer and retailer, Courtyard Dairy, and include Yorkshire-produced ewe’s milk pecorino and creamy, mushroom-like Tunworth, often said to be the Englishman’s answer to Camembert.

Grazing plates pair a selection of cold meats and cheeses, with mouth-watering extras, such as cornichons, truffle honey, thyme and black pepper crackers and Chatsworth oil.  There are alternatively tempting bar snacks such as smoked, spiced almonds and Yorkshire pork pie and chutney, to savour a light bite, enjoyed with a local beer or chilled glass of wine.

Paired with the food menu are some of the world’s most exceptional wines available by the glass, such as Flor des Pingus, 2014, Dominio de Pingus, and Domaine Leflaive Mâcon-Verzé Les Chênes, 2019, Burgundy, alongside aperitifs, a range of sherries and a variety of carefully selected wines which can be enjoyed by the glass or by the bottle. Also, a choice of sparkling wines and Champagne, such as Laurent-Perrier, La Cuvee NV. Wines will be changed regularly as part of an evolving wine program.

The new dining concept at The Garden Room celebrates the rich flavours of the Continent, with produce often sourced much closer to home, right here on our doorstep in the Yorkshire Dales.
