The Ro Opens in the Heart of The Lakes

The Ro has opened in the most popular tourist destination of the lakes, Bowness-on-Windermere.

In The Lakes, overlooking the breath-taking Lake Windermere, the new 87 room property has undergone a multimillion-pound refurbishment.

The Ro is informal and relaxed but delivers a warm ‘lakes welcome’. All guests are catered for from couples to families to those with dogs.

The 87 rooms feature eight different categories, from cosy to the stunning Ro Suite with lake views. All rooms have been completely renovated and feature clean lines, artistic decor and home from home comforts.

The design takes inspiration from the lake and surrounding countryside with cool blues and turquoises complemented with accents of oranges, natural stone and traditional grey slate.

Challenging the formal, all-day dining is on offer. The menu features comfort food sourced locally where possible.

Lacu at The Ro includes dishes the likes of Braised shank of Cumbrian lamb with caramelised shallots, kale, glazed carrots, mashed potato and red wine jus and Fillet Wellington – Dry aged fillet of Cumbrian beef wrapped in an herb pancake, air dried Cumbrian ham and mushroom duxelle. Baked in butter puff pastry, served with a rich red wine jus with a potato terrine and tender stem broccoli.

Traditional afternoon tea in addition to a selection of cakes are served for those after a sweet treat.

The bar is the perfect place for both guests and locals and serves a selection of wines, ales and craft gins in addition to an extensive cocktail list, which includes the signature Ro featuring Lake rhubarb rosehip, Elderflower syrup, prosecco and Gin.

In addition to the rooms and dining the hotel’s conference and meeting rooms, have been given an overhaul. The six new spaces can cater for events from 6 to 200. Perfect for celebrations and weddings.

“We have been brought up on family trips to the Lake District. Spent decades piling into cars, loaded up with muddy wellies, cheese sandwiches and the dog! This has always been a place for everyone, no matter who you are or where you come from. Families, couples and groups are all welcome here.”
