House of Tides, Newcastle’s Michelin-starred Favourite Launches After Hours

Something shifts at House of Tides when the clock hits 6.30pm on a Sunday. The downstairs space steps into something altogether different, looser, livelier, and lit with the kind of energy that makes you want to stay longer than you planned…

That’s After Hours. A brand-new Sunday evening concept from the team behind House of Tides, one of Newcastle’s most celebrated restaurants, and their invitation to stretch the weekend out properly.

House of Tides

The food is the anchor. Built around the spirit of the great Parisian brasseries, Sacrée Fleur Montmartre, Coeur, and Le Relais de l’Entrecôte, the After-Hours menu is tight, confident, and built to deliver. Perfectly cooked Steak Frites with Sauce Verte. A House Salad in Mustard Vinaigrette with Hazelnuts and Herbs. A proper Baked Baguette. Time-honoured French technique, executed with precision, and a flavour profile you won’t find anywhere else in the city.

But the food is only half of it. The cocktail list is a line-up of proper originals; each one built around quality spirits and house-made ingredients that exist behind no other bar:

  • Ms Pac-Man — Vanilla Infused Hepple Gin, House-Made Sour Cherry Syrup, Vault Bitter, Soda
  • Savoury Girls — Hepple Vodka, House-Made Tomato Leaf Liqueur, Tomato Ponzu, EVO
  • Alpine Negroni — Hepple Gin, House-Made Strawberry Vermouth, Dola Dira Rhubarb Aperitif, Beeswax
  • Overthinker Margarita — Tapatio Tequila, House-Made Mango Nectar, Orange, Harissa, Lime, Sumac Sal

Wine more your thing? The list is a thoughtfully curated selection of small grower bottles and fizz from across Europe’s finest vineyards, wines with genuine personality, sourced from producers who care as deeply about what’s in the glass as this team cares about what’s on the plate.

Threaded through all of it: a playlist rooted in 80s synth pop and a rotating roster of guest DJs, there to blur the line between Sunday and Monday in the best possible way.

Kenny Atkinson, Chef-Owner of House of Tides, said: “We had been talking for a while about doing something different in the downstairs area to attract a different customer base and bring new energy to House of Tides. After numerous discussions with the team, ‘After Hours’ was born.

It was exciting to be in a position to give the team the freedom to create a space where people can get together in informal surroundings, eat simple, tasty dishes, and chill with a cocktail while they listen to great music.

It’s very different to what we do upstairs, and that’s exactly the point.’’

After Hours runs every Sunday from 6.30pm. No starch. No ceremony. Just a great evening in brilliant company.
