Sip into Spring: Why Tinwood Estate is the Ultimate Destination this Spring

With spring in full swing and the first taste of summer on the horizon, I wanted to share a perfect countryside escape for any ‘Best Vineyards to Visit Near London’ or ‘Day Trips From the Capital’ roundups you may be working on. Just under two hours from London by car (and easily reached via train to Chichester followed by a short taxi), Tinwood Estate in the South Downs offers a seamless city-to-vines getaway that is ideal for spontaneous sunshine filled days out or overnight Spring staycations.

Think fresh country air, rolling vineyard and long, golden afternoons paired, of course, with exceptional English sparkling wine. Tinwood Estate captures that sweet spot between indulgence and wellbeing: a place where you can swap the pace of London for vineyard views, ease into a slower rhythm, and enjoy a glass (or two) with friends, family and loved ones, proving that relaxation and a little decadence can absolutely go hand in hand.

Please do let me know if you’d like more information, imagery or to experience Tinwood first hand. In the meantime, here’s a snapshot of what’s on offer this season:

Tour & Tasting

A guided journey into the world of English winemaking, led by Tinwood’s expert team. Wander through the vines, meet the makers and learn the craft behind each bottle, before settling in for a tasting of their award-winning sparkling wines. Sessions run daily throughout spring and summer for just £21 per person.

Sparkling Afternoon Tea

A quintessentially English treat with a seasonal twist, think delicate finger sandwiches, warm scones with clotted cream and red berry compote, and a selection of homemade cakes, all paired with three glasses of Tinwood sparkling wine. Includes a vineyard tour for the full grape to glass experience. £49 per person.

Vineyard Kitchen & Picnic in the Vines

Celebrate the season with relaxed, al fresco dining. The Vineyard Kitchen serves Sussex inspired small plates and sharing boards, or guests can opt for a Picnic in the Vines, complete with hamper, blanket and a perfectly chilled bottle, ideal for long, sun soaked afternoons among the vines.

Stay the Night

For those wanting to linger a little longer, Tinwood’s eight luxury lodges sit nestled within the vineyard itself. Guests can unwind on private terraces, explore on complimentary bikes, or relax in the barrel sauna, bringing together countryside calm, wellness and a touch of indulgence for the ultimate spring staycation.
