The March 2026 report on solo tourism around Europe reveals that Prague, Czech Republic, is the best destination for women traveling alone. With women going on leisure vacations more often than men, the study by Eminent, an online luggage shop, looked at every key component of a good trip, from safety to walkability and prices.
- Prague, Czech Republic, is the best destination for alone time abroad, with safe streets and a historical city center densely packed with museums and attractions. Perfect for solo travellers.
- The most affordable accommodations can be found in Lisbon, Portugal, with only $53 for a one-night hotel stay.

When it comes to exploring, Prague has the most tightly packed historical centre in the top 10, and it’s easy to explore on foot.
2. Kraków, Poland

Kraków ranks second as the safest destination for budget-conscious female travellers. Tourists here pay $73.80 for the hotel, and the public transport and food are the most affordable in the top 10. The streets are safe and easy to navigate, scoring 98/100 on walkability, and there are over 2,100 local attractions to explore.
3. Lisbon, Portugal

Lisbon offers the cheapest stays in the top 10. A night at the hotel costs only $53, almost half less than in Prague, and each meal adds around $25 more to the vacation budget. There are almost as many attractions here as in Prague, with 4,729 places to explore, and Portugal scores high on women’s safety and justice, so solo traveling is carefree.

In fifth place is Amsterdam, where its busy urban environment remains safe for female solo travellers, with a WPS index of 0.905. The high safety standards help to relax and explore 4,152 cultural attractions around the city. For a night’s stay and a good meal, adventurers who travel alone should budget around €220a day.

A travel consultant from Eminent commented on the study:
“Women now account for the majority of solo travellers, but they often stick to well-explored options or visit the same destinations over and over. In recent years, female solo traveling as a trend has grown over 11 times based on search trends, and many destinations still haven’t tapped into this potential. Advertising your city with safe streets, affordable transport, and easy navigation is great for all tourism, but it matters the most for solo adventurers.”
